Hello, I am somewhat a beginner at building.
I am currently working on a commission that I was given but I lack the motivation to continue however I really need the payment and I’m trying to hang on.
The only time I truly feel motivated is when I am working for myself, I have no idea for the reason all I know is that I don’t get bored or really struggle as much.
Does anyone have any advice for how to stay motivated or deal with commissions properly?
Am I even ready for commissions if I can’t think of a way to stay motivated?
If you can’t stay motivated, doesn’t mean you aren’t ready. Maybe the project seems too hard - try your hardest to complete it. If you need to take a break, take one. If you need to lower your prices, do it. If you think you are ready for commissions, go for it!
Hey, I would recommend building up more skill haquite literally. Jokes aside, I feel like you should “build” up more skill until you feel comfortable doing commissions and don’t flat out lose all motivation. Slowly charging more and more equivocating towards your skill and efficiency.
Whether you’re ready or not to build commissions is ultimately up to you. If you feel that you can add more details or that it should look better, then you can always practice in your free-time. If you like it and think that your clients would be fine with the builds, then you should continue to build. With motivation, there are lots of way to stay motivated on building. You can take 5-10 minute breaks every now and then, you could set goals to get everything done in a certain amount of time, or whatever else works for you. I’ll link a video that can help give you more ideas on how to stay motivated. Thats all I have to say though, I hope this helped you in any way.
