How do I stop undervaluing my work?

I’m having a hard time taking pride and value into my work. Although most people I ask say that I’m amazing, I tend to think they are sugarcoating it. ()

And when I start to price my builds, I literally make builds that would actually cost 1000 robux, 500 Robux or less! When I look at some low poly builder portfolios, I see prices in the 1,000 - 2,000 Robux range for a small build! And I would price a small build 500 - 1,000 Robux range. I believe this issue started when my mother bought me 80 Robux to buy some accessories for my avatar. Back then, I thought as 500 Robux as a total goldmine. And I still do!

Am I overvaluing Robux in general? How do I “convert” myself over to the developer exchange rate? And how am I supposed to take pride in my work?

Hi there!

I know how you feel for sure!

I think after some time, then you’ll get into the whole thing, but it takes time. Maybe start low, but aim high. That’s my best advice for you pal

I understand your feelings pal. Sometimes you will do such crazy absolute masterpiece of work into your build, but then you feel that its not worthy.

I mean just be motivated and be self confident about what do you best. As an example, during my times when I was getting to building stuff in Roblox, I kinda suck, I compare my builds which they look kinda trashy to be honest. It kinda made me felt down, but then I got up, keep working hard, practicing and being mtovated.

Simple it is to say, just don’t let your guard down

Hope it helps mate😉

I looked at some of your work - there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it. I’d argue it’s borderline decent if I’m honest.

That’s quite something; usually I have a lot to say about peoples’ creations in terms of how they can improve, but I think yours are fine.

I think this is likely a confidence issue. You could try sharing your work in #help-and-feedback:cool-creations to get some insightful feedback - you can use the ideas people give you to improve your work. When people point out positive points in your work, this should make you feel more confident. If you want, you can always let me know whenever you have some work to share and I’ll give an honest opinion on it, and I can offer you help where possible.

I wouldn’t say 500R$ is a goldmine; it’s not really a lot when you think about it. I’d argue even small yet decent quality builds should at least be worth R$750, especially when you consider the amount of time and effort the developer’s used to complete their work. It bewilders me when I hear of builders selling their services for 50R$-100R$, but I think prices like that are definitely undervaluing. From the work of yours that I’ve seen, I’d argue you could probably make it into the higher end of payment for builds since it’s not bad at all.

Its not that you overvalue Robux but that you’re undervaluing yourself.

Building, scripting, art, or ect all take your effort, brain power, time, creativity, talents, experience, and skills to produce. A small build isn’t just a small build but something only you could/can/did create and did so with passion and effort/care. It’s something you spent your time making and thus you should be paid exactly what you are owed. Don’t accept less than the best you can get.

Obviously I don’t mean to say charge 100,000$ for a simple block, but know your worth and make sure to earn it too.

You have a good point about that! I did spend two months on this build and before I made this topic, I thought It would cost 10k to 15k, but considering that I worked very hard on it, It could be bumped up to 20k.

You could easily bump it to many times more, just depends on who you’re selling it to. It looks great though!

I do not use Blender. I tend to admire lower detailed looking builds!

I agree with your approach to building. I am building an RP and I think that it properly captures roblox. However its hard with small details.

A tip: If you take a look at my builds, I add a lot of smaller props around the map to add more detail.

Also, Did you find a way to be more motivated (I am struggling with it myself and I was reading through your thread.)

Let’s move in into messages, as this is getting a little bit off topic.
