How do I use the Decal's ColorMapContent?

I want to know how to use the Decal’s ColorMapContent feature that replaces the Texture and TextureContent.

Please tell me how because if I just do it how I used to, which was putting the link’s imageID into the place, it would turn into rbxassetid://%lld

Also having issues with this, inputting just the numbers turns it into rbxassetid://%lld and inputting the entire id (rbxassetid://x) doesn’t even display any image.

Facing the same issue. I can’t get it to work no matter what :confused:

Have you tried dragging the decal from the toolbox onto any part and then just moving it after?

The only ways I’ve found to get it to work is to use Add Image and upload a picture, or set the ColorMap property in a script to “rbxassetid://1234” - but that only works with images I’ve uploaded in that studio, not even images that I’ve uploaded before. Also setting the Texture property in a script does not work :confused:

Broken for me too. I sincerely hope this is a bug and not an intentional change.

Most of the problems I had were with an experience that I just had saved as a local file. Once you’ve saved it to roblox the asset manager works properly; you can upload images straight into studio and right click on them in the asset manager to get the asset id, this can then be pasted into the decal asset reference. HTH.

When scripting with this new field, you must use the Content object.

Example:
item.ColorMapContent = Content.fromAssetId(YOUR_ASSET_ID)

I found a way around this, but it’s very tedious.

  1. You need to get an ImageLabel.
  2. Put your ID into the Image’s ID, it should come out with another ID that actually works.
  3. Copy that new ID and paste the ID into the Decal, it should work just fine.

For some reason, this usually happens if you try and input the “Creator Dashboard” ID or the URL asset ID into an ImageLabel. The output is a “Studio ID” which I don’t know why it does that.

But yeah it works if you really follow the directions carefully.
