How do people build their obbies?

I want to make one of those big easy obbies. I’ve been working on a lot of stages and I have around 100 to 150 stages already built. I’ve made them individually and I haven’t actually started putting the stages together and creating the obby (I want to make an obby with like 600 to 800 stages)

I feel like the way I’ve been working on the obby has been very inefficient. I don’t have anymore motivation and I’m tired of working on the obby. I feel like it’s because I’ve been working on the obby and I haven’t actually started putting it together.

My question is: How did the developers who made those big easy obbies work on their obbies? Did they build their stages individually and then place them or did they actually start building their obby by building their stages one by one?

Also do you have any advice for building one of those big obbies or just making obbies in general?

I found it easier to do stage-by-stage rather than putting them together later, but that’s just me personally. It meant that I could easily progress by difficulty.

If you are building an obby that has a crazy amount of stages then it’s very likely that you’ll lose motivation, as it’s a repetitive task. Why don’t you release it as it is, and then provide frequent 10-stage updates or something?

Do you have any advice for coming up with stage ideas?

Have a look at other obbies, see what they do to make it unique. You could add themed stages every 10 or so levels to make the obby more interesting. a few months back I experimented with an obby where you’re a marble, and had a marble run on every 10 stages where players could have fun.
