How I earned MILLIONS from this 1 dev trick (You're missing out)

:dollar_banknote: Earning on Roblox is easier than almost any other platform.

I’ve personally made over 1 million Robux. Its a great place for indie developers and truely accessible. But here’s the truth:

Most developers never even finish a single project.

Despite how much money there is to be made on Roblox, most developers miss out simply because they never finish a project. Here’s why, and how experienced devs avoid it.

:fire:The problem:

Most developers overdevelop their ideas. They add five new features before they even have a working version.

This is normal! game dev is exciting, and new ideas pop up constantly. But us professionals call this scope creep, and it’s the #1 reason you (and millions of others) never finish games.

In this post, I’ll show you a few strategies we use to actually our projects.

:cross_mark: Skip Monetization for Now

I know we were just talking about money, but lets be real. If you want to make money with Roblox games, you need to understand one critical concept:

Money comes from a good game. A good game comes from actually finishing it.

In this post I’m going to emphasize the importance of time and energy as resources. So forget monetization for now because its a distraction. Focus on creating something people actually enjoy. Those games make the most

:white_check_mark: How to Finish Games

So now lets talk about strategies in how to actually finish games:

:white_check_mark: 1. Treat Development Like a Test

Making a game is the same as taking a test: both demand impact under a timer. So when you’re making a game, treat it like a test: Do the highest-impact/scoring tasks first. Save the low-impact stuff for later. Focus on the gameplay before the sounds.

Pro Tip: Every game has a timer. If you can’t get meaningful progress fast enough you abandon for something new.

:white_check_mark: 2. Focus on Execution, Not Just Ideas

Yes, ideas matter but ideas only become real once you can see it physically. To do that you need to make the bones of your game: The minimal product to have a working game. To actually see the idea in action. The truth is you can’t fully understand your idea (and neither can others) until you can walk around and play it.

Pro Tip: Everything looks better on paper

:racing_car::chequered_flag: Example: Building a Racing Game

Let’s apply these principles. All of these ideas emphasize functionality over perfection.

1. Build the broadest systems first

Create: A basic lobby → matchmaking → racetrack.

They don’t have to be perfect. No rules or anything yet only basic teleporting and buttons. just set up enough to work.

2. Add a simple car movement system

Now we are going a little bit deeper. Connect your matchmaking so players spawn into a car than just teleporting. Drive around a free map just to feel the basics.

Ask: is this fun to move around?

3. Add minimal rules

Add checkpoints, a finish line, and a return-to-lobby flow.

Now you officially have a minimal working version of your idea. Players can do every stage at its simplest version. the “bones” of the entire game.

Sure, you may dream of: player-made tracks, ranked matchmaking, AI opponents…but none of that matters until the core game feels good.

4. Start testing with real players

This is where the magic happens.

Ask players:

  • Is the idea fun?
  • Does driving feel good?
  • What’s confusing?

Or test internally if you’re honest with yourself.

This is how you expand your game: through feedback and high-level improvements, not obsessing over perfection.

:money_with_wings: That’s it!

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial. When I was a beginner I couldn’t get a single project done because of this one problem. If i saw this then I feel like it would have changed everything, so I wanted to provide this resource to you guys to save years of failure.

If you agree with this or have anything to add, I’m willing and excited to hear what you have to say. Leave a reply on your thoughs: whether you think this post is useful or just general ideas!
