The player count peaked at around 80 this morning, but I’ve noticed a trend of the player count going up relatively high and then dropping down to around 0-10. It’s been consistently at around that 0-10 player count for most of the time since release, only going up a few times. I’m aware that it takes time for the algorithm to find players but I’m not sure if this is something to be concerned about.
I’m actively working towards improving player retention, but I don’t exactly have a frame of reference for what a generally good player count is within the first few days after releasing a game. I’ve had an ad campaign running since release and as far as I can tell the numbers seem good, but the player count doesn’t really reflect that.
So I’m wondering how long do games take to find an audience? I’ve heard it takes a few weeks for a game to find a place in the algorithm, but I’m curious as to if that’s really true, assuming the game is actually good enough to have a place in the algorithm.
Generally, it can take about a week or even over a month to start seeing players. It really depends on the game and how it’s promoted.
I also noticed that your game requires 2 players to play. When only 1 player joins, they might get bored easily. I recommend experimenting a bit, for example, try changing the game’s thumbnail or icon and see if that increases the number of people who view and play it.
Based on my experience, It’s still to early to judge your game. You’ll need to wait atleast 1 week or more until the algorithm starting to pick up your game, Make sure to keep running ads before that tho.
Arent there signs that a game is going to fail early on though? My stats haven’t changed much in the 3 days since I’ve posted this. Retention is at 3.2%
That’s probably because your player mostly came from Sponsored Ads, that’s why most of the benchmark are red. However, if the home recommendation impression has started to come but the benchmark is still red you may need to find what is the problem causing that
