Hello, I have decided that I would like to create an obby game.
This obby will be different from most obby games, as it will feature realistic building and lighting.
I was wondering how many stages would be a good amount for a game like this,
keep in mind that I plan on having the stages save after the player leaves.
Hello! I would think that if you want the players to continue playing for a long period of time, you would want a lot of different stages. Some short stages, some hard stages, some longer than others, etc. Some games I know have over 500 stages. If you want, I can link some games as references. Hope this helps!
Greetings, You should be the one to decide that when you are writing down everything about the game. It shouldn’t be like < 10 but also not 100k <. But everyone has their own opinions so make as many as you can handle.
Edit: Don’t burn yourself out from making to many stages.
Is it a difficulty chart obby? If so, I recommend 20 stages per difficulty. If it’s just an easy obby, you can really do any amount from like a few hundred to even thousands.
600+ as you want them to play for long period each day if it is very intresting or 400+ but longer lvl’s, harder lvls… It’s actually how you want it but here’s an example…
Hey, I would recommend adding 200 - 600+ stages for a good average visit length , the game should atleast take 20 - 60 mins to complete so that players will join back.
You should also add a prestige system to make players grind towards something and not get bored after a while.
Depending on the quality of the obby and the length of each stage, I would agree with everyone else on the 300-500 range for a basic obby, If your doing something creative with it or making large stages, I would say about 70-100.
