How many unions can I add before lag kicks in?

I may sound niave but I require help. This is my 3rd month in development and I’ve been thinking of a question and that question is: How many unions does it take for the lag to kick in? What is a rough estimate of how many unions I can add before a game starts lagging? Also basing this off average PC specs.

Unions don’t cause server lag as the server doesn’t have to load the models for the unions, however it causes lag on the client as the client loads the unions, renders them and calculate the physics for the union.

Thats good to know. But is there a specific amount of unions required to start lagging?

It really depends on how many triangles the total amount of unions have, iirc

Not really as I said unions causes mild lag not much but if your that worried about it try separating windows and things like that and only use unions when you have to because they can corrupt and disappear now to answer your answer there’s not a amount for unions because some unions are bigger then others and smaller than others some have loads of triangles and some don’t.

But try and keep it under the round 1k to 500 range maybe lower.
