How to add a UGC item to a player's inventory

What do you want to achieve?
What API’s are required for adding a UGC item to player’s inventory. For example in the new Stranger Things experience (Countdown to Stranger Things Day - Roblox) once you complete some objective they gave you a Waffle Backpack (if I exit the game, in the Avatar Editor I have a Waffle Backpack).

What is the issue?
I cannot find any relevant API’s or instructions for how to accomplish this. I’m also confused by the UGC program - is this something I can only do if I’m in the UGC program?

What solutions have you tried so far?
Tried looking on documentation, this forum, youtube, didn’t find anything.

This sadly isn’t possible yet. Roblox hasn’t given developers access to award items. The reason that this game is able to do it is because it’s a directly affiliated partnership with Roblox. IIRC the only people who has access to award items is Roblox themselves which they grant to partnered events.

Bummer, has Roblox ever said anything about plans for making this available to devs?

I think they have lightly touched on the idea of allowing players to “award there own items” but I think that was awhile ago, I also remember something in 2016 (can’t find the source for this but I’m pretty sure I saw it) about them saying in regards to egg hunts “allowing players to make there own egg hunts”, not sure if that implies allowing players to award items in game but I would assume so.

I wouldn’t doubt that adding this for players aligns with the direction Roblox has been going recently, but I don’t think it’d be anytime in the super near future. :frowning:

If anyone else has anymore information on what Roblox has said regarding this it’d be great to hear it because this is something I’m also pretty excited for.
