Wouldve been nice to enroll in the remediation process to prevent my account from getting terminated. Basically got bulled for content I had requested to have archived and now im deemed a repeat infringer.

It’s genuinely infuriating that roblox (allegedly) removed the only way to remove DMCA strikes off of your account, as if they WANT you to be terminated

Now my main that i’ve had since 2010 is terminated for that very reason, and it’s been a dog fight to get an actual staff member to look at this case. The worst part is that i’ve requested for stuff to be removed as well and THAT got ignored.

Was the request done through copyright agent? if so, I know someone termed for DMCA used the fact that the agent’s failure to remove the items in time to get themselves untermed

It was requested through the ip_content_Removal@roblox.com email and i found out just recently that it was discontinued, that’s still no excuse because at one point it was active when I emailed them

Now that I think about it, is the archive system really an archive system? it doesn’t really purge the items, just adds 1 extra layer of hiding them from everyone sometimes and is really a fancier way of taking your items off sale.

how old do items have to be to be archived?

I am back again but the archival system is still abysmal when I can easily find people’s archived items easily sometimes by searching for them and selecting ā€œshow off-sale items.ā€

And the ability to access their pages are still broken, as there is a 50-50 it will redirect you to the roblox website or literally bring you to the page as if it’s a off-sale item

This carries a risk to those who uploaded stuff onto the platform with absolutely no idea on how copyright/trademark/IPs in general work, especially younger kids who want something like the pepsi logo in their game and unaware what could happen

Once again, this ā€œarchivalā€ system is literally a glorified ā€œtake asset off-sale foreverā€ feature that barely does its job whatsoever. If developers are truly cared for, then let items be permanently deleted forever if they have been on the platform for a specific long amount of time. I think it’s worth having some ugly t-shirt deleted from a few people’s inventories rather than having said t-shirt uploader’s entire history on the platform being wiped out by corporate DMCA claims against younger developers who have no understanding of copyright or DMCA rules/laws

If this idea doesn’t work, then maybe it should be similar to what YouTube has in force in which DMCA/copyright strikes expire after a set amount of months or even years. I’d take that if there was no other option.

The ā€œremediation programā€ that was made specifically for those affected is stuck in a state of being obsolete or not due to conflicting reports that it was trashed or not or if they even stayed to their word and removed people’s false strikes after being apparently abolished

I found this when searching for something

Another case of someone being moderated for an item that is archived, once again, this proves my point this archive system is utterly just another version of taking items off-sale and barely does it job

I did some archiving of assets and realize that assets made after a certain point are most likely to be completely hidden however some older archived assets still have the issue of appearing still if you have the direct link. again, archiving assets is just basically a glorified version of taking an asset offsale

Do you own the archived items? If you own an archived item then it won’t be hidden for you (e.g. in Marketplace, inventories, ā€œcurrently wearingā€ on profiles, etc.) and it won’t redirect to the Marketplace home.

I’ve archived hundreds of clothing items and I’ve never had this issue with items I don’t own.

Items I own both either disappear or still appear with the link
