How to bring teaching Building, Animating, etc. to an in-game experience?

  1. What am I looking to achieve? Looking to bring teaching Building, animating, etc. in game to players.

  2. What is the issue? Not sure if I can bring videos in game of course, so I’d like to find ways to teach players how to build or animate in my game, but I’m not sure what methods, scripts, features that are currently available that would be great to utilize to help me achieve this goal.

  3. What solutions have you thought of so far?
I’ve considered researching ways to get small low frame videos to display on bricks/bilboards to teach.
I’ve also thought of maybe showing step by step image tutorials through the use of decals, but that may take up way too much space physically to do.

**If you guys have any suggestions, please let me know! **

You could always animate it. A large animated hand assembling the house using Roblox GUI tools.

That sounds like a very intriguing idea, do you have any sort of example or reference?

I got the idea watching YouTube videos on the VR game “Baby Hands.” I don’t know that you need to watch more than a couple minutes to visualize it.

VR might be an interesting teaching experience.

This is a really interesting idea!

One way you can do this is visually by showing the expected result you want a user to do. For example, if you play Plane Crazy, they have a very good tutorial where you see where you’re supposed to put an object as a semi-transparent area. It’s a good way of teaching without words and makes it more fun.

Tinkercard is also another good reference for showing people how to build inside a “kinda game-like” experience. They start by giving you challenges and then ramping up your skills.

As you work, try and think: “Can I show this to my user without words”? and “How can I make this fun for them?”

Good luck with your project and show any progress you have!
