This is a very recent feature (added a day ago from this post from what I can tell), so I’m just shedding light on it.
It’s very simple, every Folder has a “IconTint” property on them, simply click on it to open the color selector for changing the color.
And that lets you get results like this:

It’s neat but it does suck that that it’s so inaccurate in terms of color.
I have a folder set to 255, 0, 255 - full pink - but it appears as a pastel version; specifically 255, 127, 255.
swear we get limited on the most random stuff ever 
they should atleast give us the option for white, gray and brown folders bcus were pretty limited on color variations
I wanted one for events, I used the screen color picker for the tint color… it’s not even close

kinda nice they allow us to customize the folders but for god’s sake, do not make the colors forcefully pastel

it TINTS the default icon (which is the manila folder color) and also doesnt do darkness/lightness
I understand this feature is pretty limited but its still good for extra organization. Everything roblox does y’all criticize.
Yes… that’s the point of criticizing.
You can adore something but you also need to point out the faults within it to potentially achieve a better result, no one has stated tinted folder icons are bad but it’s clear there’s issues involving how the colors are picked.
Criticizing is not hate.
Being limited to pastel colors only to begin with just sounds weird to me, why even give users a full rgb color control in the property if the colors are gonna be forcefully set to closest pastel color to begin with?
(Not really complaining, I like the pastel colors, I just find the idea of the colors being forced to pastel ones to be weird and confusing)
You can’t have black nor white folder colors either, it’s literally just a tint
The color are limited because evil hackers could set the folder color to the explorer background color and have the name as blank.
They could use that to hide dangerous content.
That’s a really stupid excuse, add an outline depending on how close it is to being the same color as the background! SIMPLE fix.
yeah nobody’s gonna question the mysterious gap in their explorer instance list
and if they tried to put any scripts inside the folder, the explorer will just put a arrow icon right next to it
Maybe if the icon color is too similar to the background, the folder icon would gain a highlight?
They could inplement that. I’m just spreading the roblox staff’s reaponse to more customizable colored folder.
yeah you right i genuinely was surprised the only criticism of the new roblox hunt 20 event that just ended was that it was too hard
