How to detect if players leaderstat changes very quick meaning they're exploiting?

Hello, I’m currently working on a project where we’re gonna have leaderstats and a leaderboard, and players have to try and climb it. However, on my last project, I faced a problem where people were exploiting and basically giving themselves millions of coins.

Is there a way to detect this and then perhaps kick them player, or make the transaction not go through? Would this break the actual leaderstats in-game?

Thank you. :upside_down_face:

That depends!

I assume you are changing the leaderstats value through the server (by firing a remote)

If not… Please do learn about them from the devhub (i linked above)

if you are

In the server script that handles the request, you shouldn’t set the new leaderstats value to whatever the remote says.

You need to make sure that they deserve to have it changed, so make some checks using if statements

when you are doing that think of it like this,

  1. Did the player do something that the game should give them points for?
  2. Don’t let the client tell you what that amount should be, you should know how much to add by only knowing what they did to get points.
