(Posted this is in the wrong forum section last time, my bad! Thank you for your replies on the last one.)
Hi there, I’m creating a roleplay game, which means that players interreacting & socialising with each other is crucial. What are some game mechanics / features I could add to encourage socialisation and make roleplaying/interreacting with one another as easy as possible?
What I have so far:
Map teleportation/waypoints
Grouping system (You can make a “family” / group of a few people)
Roblox’s invite-friend feature
I have a few more ideas in mind but I’d love to hear some opinions, especially from fellow roleplay game makers, but anyone is open to respond! All replies appreciated.
Depends on the type of game you are creating to whether these suggestions would be a good fit but:
Trading: Very effective at encouraging people to interact socially (to negotiate).
Party Hosting: Maybe further incentivisation with additional rewards?
Gifting: Especially if the player can add a personal message. Potentially encourages people to meet in-game and thank each other.
Clubs: Let players create / join clubs to encourage more interaction.
Hangout Locations: Simply having important hangout locations with many systems encouraging players to visit said hangout. You could make a clever system that offers multiple players in one server a reward for visiting the same hangout.
Multiplayer Tasks: Tasks that require more than one player to complete for rewards.
Creative Expression: Allow players to create and share something unique such as using their own audio or a decal they have made. It could be something simple like allowing them to display something special they own in-game. Sometimes all it takes to get players interacting is giving them something to start talking about.
what if you had a system that randomly created (not created as in from scratch, i mean to begin pre-made ones into the world) events/story-prompts and asked players if they would be interested in participating? teleport interested players to a spot and expand on the prompt, the players take it from there.
