How to help a new game grow?

I released my second Roblox game 26 days ago.

Button Mayhem, a game with 19 likes and 0 dislikes, 21 favorites and 10-20 minutes average session time, 2-5 daily visits and 7.5% retention, bright eye catching icon and thumbnail.

I got many random players, friends and friends of friends to play the game trying to get it noticed by the algorithm and increase its organic growth slowly, some people actually liked and returned but it’s not really working.

The game targets young audience and is made specifically for children, the gameplay is kinda addicting too

For now UI isn’t the best, I’m still getting the game ready for advertising by adding more monitization and higher quality updates, but I’m not willing to spend much on advertisements

What can I do to see an improvement in active players and daily visits?

And what can I do to improve the game in general to increase retention and get more players?

All feedback is appreciated.

You could try making the game put the players on a new map every once and a while (like every 5 minutes or sth) to keep things fresh. Could become a round-based competitive game, where the player with the highest amount of button clicks could get a reward at the end of the round or something.

Maybe you can also add a button click that can trigger a server-wide event, like everyone getting a random weapon or something.

I will make a map rotation system in an upcoming update if it makes the game more fun, there’s also a so called “Legendary button” placed close to the bridge which triggers a server wide event including giving everyone a sword or a rocket launcher (+4 other events), but you pay 300 bucks to press it.

Thank you for your feedback!

Reviving this post:

I want to learn more about the algorithm, when exactly does it start promoting a game?

As I said above, my game has decent retention and average session time. How long do I have to keep this to see better ccu?

this should help you!

Ok I have questions 1. Are you gonna run ads (if so i can help) and my suggestion if your not running ads to find a YouTuber which wants to make a video on the game and give him some in-game gamepasses to show off to his viewers. And try getting some of your friend’s to sit in your game so it can improve average session time plus Roblox algorithm will recognize the active players and good stats. It’s really OP if you run ads on 0.05 bid per player and get good stats for around 1 month or two and you will be on the front page!

I’m planning to run ads but I’m not trying to spend much since this doesn’t look like a “real” Roblox game, but before I do I’ll first add more monitization and higher quality updates to get the most session time and retention from these ads.

I heard it is best to run long ad campaigns when on a low budget so the game gets enough info for the algorithm to process and start promoting.

Maybe try adding some new content.
E.g, a update tracker.
I have one.

Yeah it’s a pretty good idea but unfortunately I forgot what the last few updates were because it was mostly bug fixes :sob:

Try advertising on social media
