I was prepared to begin developing an fps game until I discovered how tiresome fps games are for me. I can’t be the only one who finds fps games boring after 15-20 minutes. What are some elements I could add to my game to liven it up the dreary spawn die & repeat cycle that users might find boring. i’m willing to consider all i ideas
that you may post but i really need something unique becuase my previous games
i created got decent vists but nobody would ever play for more then 4 minutes or join back to play for a second time. i’m trying to make this game as diffrent from phantom forces or bad buisness as possible meaning that im not looking for tons of gun or attachment crates etc i may add them but i’m trying to avoid making a cash grab game.also i create all my games independently so this game wont be anything crazy
Story. Period.
You have to add story, interaction between the Player and the Game (not like Halo where you can’t even open a door, it does it automatically)
(Also you aren’t the only one that doesn’t like them)
there so lame for me all you do is shoot kill die repeat i don’t understand the hype and there so niche i feel like there all the same pretty much
Me neither bro
I have found only one good Shooter Game (which was ruined with its 4th entry)
I can Message you it if you want
Lots of content that’s easy to produce. Take a look at arsenal and how many weapons, gamemodes, maps, skins, etc they have.
I think i will make it a story game i find arsenal to be a snooze-fest personally and don’t even get me started on skins. I’ve got the help i needed I’m not looking for anymore responses
Put in a new feature; make something that stands out and has unique gameplay. (Eg. fortnite building, Valorant’s abilities)
Ah yes, Valorant, inventors of abilities
make it 0 gravity
The answer is this: you can’t make a game that isn’t repetitive, and boring is subjective.
There’s a reason why “gameplay loop” is a term: because you can’t make infinite content, so eventually the gameplay will “loop”. The goal of every FPS developer (and game developer in general) is to make the content within this loop as fun and well-made as possible so people wish to reexperience it.
Have lots of content. Lots of maps, modes, guns, maybe even go the Battlefield route and add vehicles. Have either some daily challenges, a few dozen preset ones that cycle out, either that, or an “assignment” system that takes at least 10-20+ hours to fully complete (or both!). These systems should both give rewards. After that, all you can do is make the best game you can and hope for the best.
If you’re looking for repeat playthroughs, a story game is not a good choice… it’s common knowledge that story games don’t last nearly as long as multiplayer games.
If with Story Game you talk about Games like Camping then you’re right, but I think he meant he will add a story to it
I don’t think it’s physically possible to make a good and fun FPS game. I have always hated FPS games, they have no story, no strategy, they use no creativity, and you just click buttons to see a number go up (your eliminations).
The only possible thing I can think of to make them fun and good is to make a story for it, add customizable things (cosmetics), let players interact with different things inside the game, and add different features that make the game actually fun, like low gravity, quick speed, and other things.
Also, you should update the game at least once a week to keep the excitement with the players.
take notes from boomer shooters
CSGO is probably the best examples with the skins
Also, with repetitive he probably meant not being:
Kill, die, respawn, Kill, die, respawn, Kill, die, respawn, Kill, die, respawn, Kill, die, respawn
And have more variety and not being that repetitive, as that’s everything you do in the Game…
In my opinion, it’s all about making something unique. “Rewriting the rules”.
While finding FPS games to be fun is heavily subjective, there’s a reason why when a development team makes a sequel, or an update to the game it usually ends up in more people playing.
The core of an fps game is quite literally a loop. You can’t really change this, but if you can make each round worth playing, and each round somewhat different then the other, you will have a game that is entertaining to play.
For example, adding many maps that changes the gameplay and strategy, adding many different weapons and characters, adding many different game modes that can be played can help a lot in the mission of making a game fun.
tbh r6s and valorant applies the whole idea concept of character abilities better than tf2, overwatch and paladins
I didn’t say they invented abilities; I merely stated that they made a good game using abilities.
That’s… literally the entire premise of a shooter game.
Maybe he shouldn’t make one in the first place.
Yes but they could add a reason to why I have to keep killing, dying and respawing in tre first place
