How to make a part which follows the character and will always be on the surface?

I want a part which follows a character that will always stay on the surface and will never collide with the ground, I think this could be obtained via raycasting however I am unsure if there are other better ways to do it.

Raycasting is the best way to do this. You’re on the right track.

Ah, ok. Thanks for this, I thought there was another way.

There are several other ways, but they’re either deprecated, unsupported, or not as fast.
