Hello, in this tutorial I’m going to teach you how to make your game not suck.
-
Play test your game with friends/game testers
- If you play test your game yourself you are not going to find all the bugs and little things
You can prevent this by play testing the game with game testers. They can be your friends or other people. This way you can gurantee that the game/new update wouldn’t have that many bugs or problems. If you don’t trust me this is my experience with my game
- If you play test your game yourself you are not going to find all the bugs and little things
-
Don’t rush updates
- If you rush your updates because the will now be perfect and there are going to be many bugs and many incomplete functions or they may not work
-
Don’t use not themed models from toolbox
- If you want to make your game look good don’t use models that doesn’t fit your game’s theme.
For example don’t put Among Us everywhere with some speed coil, car and lightning gun that doesn’t work. This is useful for learning how to move around the Roblox studio. Use the models but find models themed like your game so for example cartoon shooter → find cartoon gun and not some super realistic gun from year 3000.
- If you want to make your game look good don’t use models that doesn’t fit your game’s theme.
-
Use ModuleScripts from community
- You don’t to reinvent the wheel many people before you may created the script you need for example for ProximityPrompt there is easy to customize system Proximity Prompt Customizer
-
Make UI for different screen sizes
- With this I mean that make your UI look the same on different devices like Size and Position. I personally use this plugin https://create.roblox.com/store/asset/1496745047/AutoScale-Lite it this you can make your UI be the same on many different devices with different screen sizes
-
Use plugins
- Use plugins for easier creating like I already mentioned AutoScale-Lite creating with plugins is way more easier than making it without it. Plugins can bring quality of life features or can make some proccess easier.
-
Don’t change your theme over time
- What I mean with this it that if you have cartoon theme game then you want to use low-poly models but then you make for example new stage you need to use the theme cartoon and not super realistic high-poly models. For example cartoon → You need to use cartoon styled models so cartoon styled colors and low-poly model and cartoon lightning settings. For realistic game → You need to use realistic lightning setting, models (high-poly), and colors
-
Use same themed UI
- If you use different styled UI for example your UI is designed with bright colors and cartoony look and then you make realistic UI with pale colors and realistic look it wouldn’t fit the game
-
Make quality thumbnail
- Thumbnail is the one of the most important things in Roblox because thumbnail is your ‘marketing’ of your game. If your thumbnail is screenshot from your game please make it the format Roblox is asking for beacause if you use different the thumbnail can be stretched, blurry or simply deformed. Thumbnail is the main thing how to make players play the game so spend some time on it and don’t say “I can’t do that” - You can for example Steal a Brainrot. The thumbnail is composed of three parts. First background, it is just the map. Second the Brainrots Which are brainrots fotographed at some different angle than the map. Third the last is some bacon hair. After that you put it in Photoshop or Photopea (Photoshop for free basically) there you add some shadows, outlines and text. And that’s how you make a simple thumbnail
-
Don’t expect much players playing after release (the numbers are weird I have there 10. )
- Players wouldn’t play right after release if your game is new on Roblox and you’re not known don’t expect without promoting your game on Youtube/TikTok or any other platforms. If you promote your game on social media you have a promotion for your game and that’s very good for your game. Maybe if the game has zero or low CCU don’t worry. Update the game and maybe more and more players would join the game for example if I’m not mistaken 99 night’s in the forest wasn’t that popular but over the time with many more updates it blew up. I remember seeing 99 night’s in the forest with ~500K CCU but now I see ~900K CCU. That means always keep trying and don’t give up.
And that’s it. You can of course make many more things so your game doesn’t suck.
