How to make my game feel heavy/grounded?

I’m working on a brawling game, and I wanna make it so that the movement feels heavy and grounded instead of having the default roblox movement, any advice? A game in roblox I think has this kindof feeling is Wild West, outside would be rdr2 or gtav

To achieve this you want your in-game actions to feel like you have to commit to them. This would be through windup animations, follow through and cooldowns, in addition to stun times if your game calls for it.

If you have the technical knowhow you could also look into creating a custom character movement controller to give movement more weight by not allowing the player to rapidly dash back and forth, instead having momentum (e.g. they skid/have a non-instant turning circle when changing direction).

Have things like start up lag and ending lag, this makes the game feel heavy and try to balance the moves, for a attack that does more damage could have more start\end lag.

For the actual movement, I would make things like jumping take a couple of milliseconds until you actually jump like most platform fighting games, – the Super Smash Bros Series. Have the character slowly decelerate so it feels like the player is actually running, unlike how you stop instantly in roblox.
