How to promote game on social media better?

I’ve finished my new obby game, and I’ve been promoting it consistently on Tiktok and youtube. The videos, on both platforms, only get about 800-1000 views each, with tiktok getting a lot more engagement. The videos have not really grown since and consistently reach just below that 1k mark. This brings around 20 daily active users every day. But it’s only floated around the 20 DAU mark and has never grown. I’m wondering if I’m doing something wrong with either the game or the promoting, that’s preventing it from growing any further. How do you guys successfully promote your game?

Heres my tiktok, in case you want to see what the content looks like: TikTok - Make Your Day

Hello!

Usually, Obby games only have a small player base (especially tiered ones).

Maybe try advertising in different ways not just on tiktok and youtube yourself:

  • ($) Maybe try and get small competitive Obby youtubers or tik-tokers to promote it.
  • Join Obby discord servers (I know there are a few tiered Obby discord servers) and just lightly promote it there while following their rules
  • ($) Roblox advertising
  • Make your own discord server and build a community! (this is the best option overall in my opinion)

Hope this helped!

Hey man, you might want to consider switching this post to a different topic than creations feedback so you get more responses. In my opinion, the videos arent particularly visually appealing, and I would probably click off. I think your game itself also needs some polishing and improved visuals.

Like what? (I was planning to share something on Creations Feedback, but if there’s a better place, then I’d like to know)

Game design support suits this a little better imo, but its not a complete fit

Other than making the game itself more appealing, how would I make the videos more appealing? What changes to the videos would make you want to keep watching the videos?

I’d say to edit the videos in a way where they feel faster paced since every TikTok/Youtube Shorts user’s attention span is very low, rather than 1 long clip playing the whole time with music in the back calling it a day. So different clips put together and each one lasting no more than 5 seconds, this should keep people watching a bit longer. But it’s also not entirely your fault the videos aren’t doing too well since advertisements of obby games usually don’t do that well on social media compared to advertisements of horror games or action games and stuff like that. You should drop the game link though so we can try and see if there’s any improvements that could still be made to the game itself as well.

Sounds good. here’s the game link: Grappling Hook Obby - Roblox

The videos you make need to be interesting. Your videos are pretty good, and perform alright, but the videos that truly get popular normally have crazy editing and trendy memes/funny stuff. You’re doing good, you have hashtags which help. Just keep going and never give up!

i still didnt release a big game to consider promoting it ,but i would pay some known tiktoker to make a video about my game or something

Add a sign recommending them to go in first person when grappling, as I was confused why it wasn’t working where my mouse cursor was

I revamped the tutorial trying to make it easier to get the hang of, let me know how easy it is to understand if you’re willing to try it

Decent, I feel like it still needs more info as a lot was removed when you got rid of the signs. In places where you go up with the grapple or it’s hard to figure out, add arrows, as I was confused.

Sadly, this is insanely true lol. But adding onto this, I’d say one of the best tips to boost your content is to have a great hook in your videos. What do I mean by this? The first 3 to 5 seconds of your video are CRITICAL when it comes to grabbing people’s attention and making them stay. If I was an average TikTok kid scrolling through the fyp and saw one of your current videos pop up, I’d probably assume it’s some low-quality gameplay posted by a random user.

What you want to do instead, is to start off your videos by connecting with the viewers, using sentences like “Tired of repetitive and boring obbies on Roblox? I’ve got something fun for you!” or “Here’s a fun Roblox obby to play with your friends”, and keep this in mind, friends play a VERY important role here: they boost interaction & traction both on TikTok AND Roblox, since they’ll most likely tag each other so they can “try out your game together” and by actually playing it, Roblox’s algorhythm will also understand that your experience is being well received.

TLDR; Hook viewers/players within the first 3-5 seconds of your tiktoks, and make sure to keep them interested by using clever editing and meaningful information about your game. Also target friend groups as they will boost your stats.
