How to use depth of field

So I’ve been working with depth of field recently and I want to ask if It’s possible to make it work similar to many shooters.

My current issue is if I use the NearIntensity value which blurs out everything but specified distance my FPS gun can’t be seen as clearly which I need to be seen + the distance that you’re aiming at. Any other value makes this depth of field effect pretty not noticable.

Any help or tricks are appreciated
