How would I make a camera like this game?


How would one make a camera system like in Blood Engine? I know there are SOME community resources that try to make this, but in my opinion they weren’t good enough.

I would try (codeword TRY) to make one myself. But I don’t even know where to start or the math to do so.

The camera is only ever pointing toward mid-screen at a set distance range between the character and the environment. The camera is locked to the head of the player -at some arbitrary distance, making neat account of collision mechanics and far/near/zero point field numerical/container/processing glitches/boundaries. It follows a projected line from the players head (minus the POV distance) to the coordinate of interest (i.e. where the players head is pointed to!).

I’m not sure but I think it lerps the camera position. However if that’s the case, you will either have to modify the camera script from source or write the code from scratch (that way you can handle camera turning, zooming, etc)
