How would I make maps that would realistically be found within 2010-2014 Roblox?

Heya Everyone!!

I’m working on a fighting game and I’m wondering how I can make maps that would be found during 2010-2014 Roblox. I’m aiming on how to use materials instead of just studs on making such.

Maybe consider watching old footage around that time, might help!

Try to get inspired by something such as the old Epic Minigames lobby:

You can see their style is very simplistic, but not the extremely saturated simplistic modern one. Try using color theory and learn how to make elegant colors, make outlines on some things (as seen on the path in the image) Don’t put too much detail into everything, maybe a few flowers sometimes, grass thingies, use dark colours NOT light ones like modern games, Disable 2022 materials (materialservice property in your game), use ShadowMap (“Soft” if you’re using unified) lighting technology, You can see the grass sticking out from the hill and dirt below.
Here’s an inside of that same map:

(This is the best screenshot i could find, I’m sorry)

You can see they put details but not too many, making a use for many things and being very simplistic about it (again, darker elegant colors). I hope i helped, good luck on your game and map building!
Edit: You can also use “Voxel” lighting technology if you really want old graphics and shadows.
