I’ve Been Developing a Different Kind of FPS — Does This Look Fun?

Hello everyone!

I’ve been working on BlastOut, a team-based arena game built around Impact, Strike, and positioning.

Players use weapons, skills, tactical gadgets, and map pickups that provide temporary buffs to increase enemy’s impact ratio, create displacement, and force opponents toward the edge of the map. Sending opponents into the fall zone is one of the main ways to create scoring opportunities, while direct eliminations are also part of the current rules.

Video showcase:

The game is planned to include both in-match and out-of-match systems, including loadouts, weapons, skills, tactical gadgets, and temporary buffs from map pickups. Many of these systems are still being developed.

The current mode is TDM (Team Deathmatch). Teams can score through direct eliminations and fall eliminations. When the round timer ends, the team with the higher score wins, while reaching the target score can end the match earlier.

A Free-for-All (FFA) mode is planned for the future, but it is not currently available.

I’ve been developing this mostly in private for the past few months, so I may be too close to the project to judge whether the core idea is genuinely interesting. I’ve also started to feel a bit stuck after working on it for a while, so I would really appreciate honest and objective feedback.

In particular:

  • Does the core gameplay look interesting from the video?
  • Does it looks confusing, borning?

Please feel free to be critical. I’m open to improving or changing the direction if the core idea does not come across well.

I’m also planning to open an alpha test within the next two weeks. If the game eventually launches, everyone who participates in the alpha test will receive an exclusive tester skin as a thank-you.

Thank you for watching and sharing your feedback!

Not really a new kind. It’s more like one of those minigames where you have to push the other person off with hair dryers like in Epic Minigame. Or slap battle. Just packaged in an FPS format.

I think this is wonderful! I love the animation and maps that I can see so far on the video. You and your team have such great talent.

I can also see the Smash Bros reference with the falling after effect. Love it!!
