Nice simplistic touch! I feel there should be some sort of border to it to make it look more like a coin, since without any context, I would fully believe that that was some sort of badge for your game.

This looks great I recommend adding a slight gradient on the inner part, it doesn’t have to be much but a tiny bit goes a LONG way.

There is no sense of depth. Just use a union, it’s not the worst thing ever.
