I made a waterfall/Need some help on design

Hello! I’m currently working on a game with another developer.
I recently created this little area and I thought it needed a little more to it (It kind of seems a bit… bland?) Are there any tips on what I could add?

Build overall looks nice, there are some bulletpoints of what you could consider adding.

  • Adding depth to the waterfall’s cliff, making it have more levels
  • More trees and consider adding rocks, flowers, and bushes too
  • Below the water looks boring, perhaps if you want you could add some rocks or moss like a real fresh water lake/river
  • I see there is a gear on the side, you could make it move (if it doesn’t already)
  • The particles acting as the waterfall could use some more detail. Maybe duplicate it and mess around with the colours, size, and speed- make the waterfall appear like water is actually falling
  • Adding a low railing on the bridge, low so it can match the bridge’s concept
  • Lights around the build, to “guide” the player along the path

These are just ideas I thought of while looking at your build, it is a generally good build though, so good job! :+1:

If you are using particle emitters to make a waterfall effect, I’d reccomend looking into Beams. You can easily set curves, width, texture, speed, everything. Try combining those with some particles and I think the waterfall would look nice.

The waterfool looks pretty good, but it really is missing something to make it feel solid. Beams work really well for waterfalls, especially with particles on top to add a misty look to it.

Here’s an image of what I mean, from an old abandoned project of mine. Get the particles right, and use a beam to make it really seem like its a massive flow of water. This looks really good in motion as well. I just used a waterfall image I found off of google, although it might take time to find one (or make one) that suits your specific needs.

Thanks for all the help guys! Here’s the new one:

I changed:

  • The waterfall(s) are now mostly beams.
  • Vegetation around the Waterfall(s).
  • More trees.
  • Gears Spin.
  • Second Waterfall.

(Edit) Sorry about the green and pink circles. They’re there for… reasons…

Thanks! Yes, the gears do spin.

Neat and cool, its just the particles look a bit off, it looks like water falling in huge chunks. Maybe there is some sort of work around?
