I made horror game, I need feedback

Imagine this: you, clutching a battery ran flashlight, stepping into the heart of a dark and mysterious forest. Your mission? Seek out 10 hidden orbs while outsmarting a lurking, ominous man that pounces the instant your light dies. It’s a concept that’s got all the potential, but I can’t do it alone – I need your unique insights to truly bring it to life!

I’m gonna be very honest, OK?

The Man

The Man isn’t particularly scary once you know how he works. As long as you have batteries, he’s just following you around. Of course the tension increases as the batteries scattered become scarce, but past a certain point we’re just waiting to lose. The predictability of the antagonist is the biggest bummer of it all. BTW, a pitch black entity would be much scarier than some default Roblox outfit.

Suggestion: Change the behavior of the Man’s AI, maybe the appearance.

The Map

The map is cramped and not creepy. Not that cramped maps are not spooky, but it’s just that we can see everything from where we begin, and this is a exploration game! There is no unknown, no darkness to uncover! It quits being a horror game, and becomes a tactic game – Pick the best route, don’t slow down, win the game. Also, the simple design of the ground doesn’t match the realism portrayed by the buildings. Most trees are not attached properly to the floor.

Suggestion: (Way) Bigger map. More fog and darkness. Better ground.

The Flashlight

The flashlight is non-responsive. I click, and it takes a moment to toggle. I feel at unease when using it. Sure the game is horror, but the tools I depend on should be as trusty as possible. For example, in FNAF, when we want the cameras (the most important tool) to show up, they do so as we expect, never late neither early.

Suggestion: Better flashlight. Maybe make it client-sided – it’s single-player, isn’t it?

The Jumpscare

The jumpscare is lame. Sorry. It’s just that one creepypasta image with a loud noise. Worst of all, it isn’t synced with the Man and often comes at unpredictable moments, or not at all, despite the Man being close enough to kill me / touching.

Suggestion: Better jumpscare. Maybe check out a tutorial on that, not sure if there is one though.

The Objective

Collect orbs… OK. The objective could be a little more creative in my opinion. Though, it is more annoying to have to rejoin every time I lose since the orbs don’t seem to regenerate when replaying.

Suggestion: Fix orb regeneration.

Sorry if it comes off as harsh, I don’t mean any hate. You can improve considerably. Don’t lose hope!

I appreciate the honest feedback and I can see many of the points that you made. I’ll definitely need to get around fixing that orb regeneration bug although I never experienced it.
