hi everyone I just made a small 1 hit katana pvp game called slash or die.
looking for feedback, especially from people experienced with pvp games. any thoughts on katana, dodge/dash/slide, hitbox, map, ui. actively iterating based on feedback.
Tried it in a private server so I can’t give feedback on the pvp. But a few things I would recommend adding/changing from a solo experience:
Show the key binds for each mechanic on the screen. (I figured it out quickly without them, but others that aren’t familiar with these types of games may not)
When purchasing a crate, you should make it so it opens automatically instead of having to go to the inventory to open it. (QOL)
Another game has the same name, but it looks to be dead, so it probably does not matter.
I’m assuming the game is still unfinished but definitely add some more life to the lobby area.
Like I said I haven’t tried the pvp in the game, but I would assume a map with more stuff placed around in it would be better for the pvp.
I was able to try it in a public server (with my alt). Everything looks good so far! (BTW I played on iPad and iPhone).
I noticed that I couldn’t buy crates at all? I’m wondering if this is a region based issue, as I am based in the UK, where many games with RNG-Style crates don’t work properly.
There doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with the pvp, as I would actually enjoy the game if there were more players, (ik bc the game is still in early development). I’m just wondering if maybe the dash ability could have some sort of effect/trail, similar to the slide ability. This could be maybe a trail of wind.
Also, I really like the idea of ziplines, but I noticed that once you get on them you can’t eject yourself / jump off. Maybe this is intended, I’m not sure.
The music in the lobby also didn’t play sometimes.
Great game so far! Would love to see the ongoing development of this game!
crates issue: you’re right, it’s a region based issue. dash: adding a wind trail effect to the dash is a great idea. I’ll add that in the next update to make it feel smoother. ziplines: I’m planning to keep ziplines as they are for now, but I might adjust them in the future. music: thanks for catching that, I’ll check the script for the music.
