I need feedback on my GFX bc gfx artists are in high demand rn

So recently, I’ve been working on animation and scripting, and I realized that gfx/thumbnail artists are in high demand right now. SOOOOOOO. I was wondering if I could get some feedback on my no gui gfx practice thing. It took a lot of referencing and inspiration. Thanks!

This is heavily a WIP so here is my progress so far

I believe the lighting projected onto the character is too bright.

Try playing with the lighting to see what looks best.

I agree with Synthris brightness has all the colors washed out.

The lighting ruins everything. It’s simply too bright and makes it an eyesore. The overall posing and camera effects however, look excellent.

I would recommend giving the lighting a more cell-shaded or retro-ish look while also decreasing the amount of bloom and shine to the character. Maybe also add an explosion in the back? Motion blur would also look good, it would give a better idea of the momentum of the character itself.

Thank you all so much and thank you specifically for being brutally honest

i needed that. I got valuable feedback and plan to make changes to how I do things in the future. Though I’m glad that besides that, things are mostly doing well. Again, thank you all!

No problem! Although, I apologize if I was a bit harsh. I by no means want to discourage your or be rude. All the best!

No, no! Seriously. It’s hard to to get good criticism and feedback from the immediate people I know. They all say stuff like “Well do you think it’s good?” Yada yada yada. I really like feedback like this because it helps me gain room for growth.

It’s looking pretty good so far! Here are a few points you could improve:

Lighting: The current lighting is harsh and bright. Try lowering the glow on the character and instead highlight the gun and sword. Also, make sure your lighting matches the map—right now, it looks like the light source is behind the camera, which feels off. Adding shadows and highlights will help grab the viewers’ attention to the key elements.

Colors: Your colors should be vibrant and saturated when it comes to making cartoony GFXs. Use color correction to enhance the mood. Pick base colors first, then add in complementary colors to make your GFX visually pop!

Overall, the composition is there- it just needs adjustments to grab the viewers’ attention. Great job!

Thanks alot! I’m glad that I was able to get good constructive criticism, and I think this will help me boost myself in the arts. (I also do animation and a little UI design) I will probably post more GFX in this thread sooner or later, and I hope i can get more feedback. Again, thank you.

I’m glad I helped! Good luck with your future projects too! I can see your potential

This actually looks amazing, maybe add another player they’re fighting.
Also, I’d agree with Synthris here:

I would also change the skybox, and make the map and character darker overall, so the laser gun can stand out a bit more atleast.
