I need your feedback!

I am currently working on a open world crime game. It is similar to games like Electric State. At the moment it is in alpha though, I recently had a tough time which is why I didn’t develop as much, but now I am back wanting to do more, only problem is. I don’t really know what to add. I hope you have some ideas or feedback. Anything is appreciated!

The idea is very unique! However, first things first is optimization.

The game upon first joining is very laggy, caused my frame rate to drop to 5 FPS while on the lowest graphics settings possible. I’d say add a loading screen and maybe load things in that are more relevant to the player’s area.

The general map design is alright, but feels a little bland. This can be very easily fixed, just add more to it!

The problem isn’t so much the map, but rather what the map doesnt have. It has a lot of empty space, and feels more like an abandoned city than a crime ridden one. On top of that in a way it feels too clean. Personally, if I were to think of a crime ridden city i’d think of something like Los Santos from GTA 5. In the map design nothing is really, empty. Even streets have buts of trash and such on them, Theres more detail placed into it.

Another thing that will greatly help with this is NPCs. Right now the game feels very… alone. It feels abandoned more than crime ridden. Add some NPCs, even if they just walk around. Have them interact with your environment, etc. This will not only greatly help your immersion in the game, but will make the game world flourish.

Another thing is it’s not exactly clear what you’re supposed to do. Yes you can purchase a gun, but how do you get that money?

Another thing with the game, Visual Feedback.

For example, the movement animations of the game. The game is R6, which is completely fine, but the sprinting animation makes the controls feel janky. It doesnt change at all when you jump, it feels more like a hover up then back down rather than a jump.

Also after exploring the map, there are numerous areas where there is no collision. Some fountains dont have any collision at all.

I would also recommend adding some GUIs. it feels strange in a way without them. Even a simple main menu works.

Final thing, there’s nothing to do here. You really should consider adding some stuff to do, even if its just driving a car. Also with the game being purely open world, maybe make the buildings enterable and explorable?

I haven’t gotten a chance to try the combat (I couldn’t figure out how to get a gun lol), but the game certainly has potential. Have a good day!
