I won’t bother you with my history but i made a pause while developing and this is my first game after the long pause. (I am the Builder and GUI Designer). It’s about to go live soon.
First of all, the building is magnificent. I was amazed by how well the simulator map was built. The only thing i would change in the map is the neon lights; they’re too bright and it feels like someone is flashing a light at me. Other than that, really good job.
Secondly, the UIs. The UIs are really nice. They don’t take up the whole screen and they look elegant. Also really love this: The only thing i would change about the UIs is the menu button, it’s too small, and i mean very very small. Here’s what it looks like on my screen.
Also one more thing about the UIs, i think you really rushed the Billboard GUIs in the Store. The only thing that is original about those Billboard GUIs is the colour. Also the UI that pops up when you go to the store manager shouldn’t take up the whole screen, and it looks quite basic. Try using a UI gradient on that. But other than that, very well done.
Thirdly, the store. The store has a decent build but you really need to be careful about what you use. You used a Samsung ad for a large poster in the store, and i think nearly all of the phones are free models and they have a brand/they are representing a brand. I think the store and the phones need to be heavily upgraded because at the moment, i feel no motivation to play the game to get those phones in the store.
Lastly, the most important problem of all. The game. So i’m not sure if you know, but there is another simulator VERY similar to this one, called texting simulator. It even got chosen as a nominee in last year’s Bloxy awards. It’s very risky to publish the same game as a game already very popular and on the front page. So i would say try adding your own features, and be different, try adding something players haven’t actually tried before.
Thank you very much for this awesome feedback. I will for sure forward it to other developers.
Phones are free models because when we started creating the game, we didn’t really have high hopes for it because “it was just another simulator”, and was mostly used so the scripter, which had just started scripting at the time, can get more experienced.
One thing after another, we really started commiting to developing it and some things from the start like free model phones and above phones UI just stayed there.
Our agreement was that if the game does good, has lots of players and profits, i will find someone or build the phones myself.
And yes, we are aware of texting simulator, which is why we tried to add things like nightclub and hotel.
It’s a nice game decided to give this a go upon joining I didn’t see a lot of details consider adding a back or x ui button so user’s could exit out the GUI as this should be fixed and more improved. While walking around and holding my sort of phone.
I feel like the concept is very similar to a different simulator game I feel you should try switching the concept up could possibly improve it and it’ll make it have its own theme and style and not the same style that has already been created.
How can I exit the GUI? Keeping the user’s in the buying pop up screen could ruin the game consider adding like wires connected to the phones could be a nice attention to add, the lack of materials aren’t a big problem however, most of the buildings, terrain, buildings, bridge shows the checkerboard texture as it lacks other materials and use of colors.
Sorry if this was somewhat harsh feedback, but I feel like there are a lot of things you’d need to improve on this game to have the game succeed. I would try to focus on the small objects on the map like the textures, ui, and other things that have been suggested above. At the start you have something great. It just needs some rework.
The Game
This simulator, overall, is really good. The buildings are really intriguing to look at. I really like the map, there were a lot of things I saw, and I immediately noticed I was in some sort of city. The buildings overall were really well made as well.
My Thoughts
I experienced some things that looked off, or me getting out of bounds where you shouldn’t go. Nice job on the invisible wall placements, I never managed to go somewhere by getting out of bounds.
Upon joining the game, the loading screen looked off a bit. It looks like it is slightly centered off a bit to me at least.
I noticed all the trees in the starting area had a floating leaves (or whatever it is) it looked out of place.
In this part, there are 2 openings. The left and the right, as you can see they are in different placements, yet you teleport inside with one opening. It looked a little weird, I would make it to where it would just have one opening, or update the entrance.
On some GUI’s I had trouble on how to close it. I don’t personally like where the ‘X’ is, because to me, it’s very hard to see.
I managed to get out of bounds by climbing onto the green house’s sides. I think got on the brown, and manged to get into some trees and getting on top of the house beside the green house.
Harsh or not, i appreaciate the honest feedback. I will definitely rethink some things after posting this thread.
About the textures, i am the first person that love to use textures, sometimes even overuse it. However i tried to put as least textures as possible to make it look cartoony.
