Ideas for proof of concept game?

I have decided that I am going to test myself on my scripting abilities.

I am looking for a game idea that is nothing too complex, doesn’t require insane scripting abilities (but still gives a challenge), and could be finished in a week or so.

I know that people are going to tell me to make an obby, simulator, tycoon. No. I want something that would truly test whether I can make a complete game, not another ordinary game.

Thanks!

See, this is a tough spot to be in. If you are willing to spend more than a week doing building, then you can make some really cool things. But, if you want to only spend that time and not get that far into building, the options are much less…

I have always thought that an old-timey kind of magic-based round-based game would be cool? Like Arsenal but with “spells”, wands, and other cool but intricate components that make for a good game.

Oof I lost my massive list of ideas I was never going to make, but I’ll try and remember some for you.

  • Reality TV show game, with mechanics like the game Outlaster, where you are in teams and have to win challenges, or eliminate somebody. A futuristic/space theme could be a unique twist on this.
  • Defend the castle game, with enemies swarming you. You could be in teams of 4 or 5, and have different player classes. This could be all sorts of different themes, from underwater (evil fish), sky (evil birds), or a literal take on this, defending a castle with knights trying to attack you. This could be quite cool as a PVP team game too.
  • A game I always used to play in school was infinity tag. This is where everybody is “in”, and you have to run around tagging other people. If you tag somebody at the same time they tag you, you have to do Rock Paper Scissors. If you win, you can leave unharmed, but if you loose, you have to sit on the ground until the person who tagged you sits down, then everybody comes back up. This literally lasts forever (that’s why it’s called infinity tag), but you could have a round timer, and you have to try get gthe most tags.
  • How about a science lab type game? Idk, it could be fun.

I hope I’ve given you some inspiration, and if you are really proud of this game, why not come back to it later, and fully flesh it out

Try to remake the game Roblox Got Talent it might be challenging.
