If a mesh is invisible does the gpu still do a draw call?

I’m currently making a setting that will reduce the amount of bushes in my game for performance. The bushes are made out of meshes and I’m aware of the draw calls the GPU gets for meshes.

However I was wondering, since it’s in the render screen would the GPU still be doing a draw call if the mesh’s transparency is 1?

No, transparency = 1 BaseParts are skipped when rendering. Transparency = 0 BaseParts are also very easy to draw by the GPU. Problem is if this value is in-between.

why is that a problem may I ask? A lot of my mesh bushes have a slight transparency of 0.7 or 0.5 for visual appearance.

I mean it won’t affect performance visibly, it depends on how many of those meshes are stacked. Transparency has been a problem for Roblox since the very beginning. You’re fine.
