I'm getting notified multiple times for one reply

PROBLEM

Someone replied to my post and I got a notification. I clicked on the notification and the blue circle disappeared, as expected. But then, some while later (maybe half an hour) I get another notification about the same reply. This happened a few times.

I’ve seen similar forum bugs posts like this:

But that post says that the issue was solved.

Can confirm some people I know are also experiencing this issue. Notifications seem to have really broken down after recent forum changes. Either users aren’t receiving them at all or are receiving them multiple times.

I’m not sure if someone keeps responding and the message gets deleted but this post in particular keeps showing up as if creep had sent another message. I’ve gotten at least 3 notifications from it even though no new messages had been sent.

yeah i just checked again and it says another reply but no new messages were sent

To fix this is to change your notification settings to “Muted” on whatever thread is notifying you constantly. I had to do this in order to stop receiving notifications. Hopefully this issue will be fixed soon.

If I have to mute half the threads on the devforum, then that defeats the whole point of notifications.

It’s more like a workaround on how you can avoid getting ghost notifications from threads that aren’t active (e.g. no one making further replies/edits). It does work, but doesn’t solve the problem enterirely… I truly hope that they can address this problem, because it’s impacting the user experience.

Thanks for flagging this, and sorry for the trouble! We found a bug in a recent release that was causing some notifications to be delayed or show up more than once. It’s been fixed now, so everything should be working normally again. Let us know if you’re still seeing anything off!
