Hello Roblox staff, I wanted to share some feedback regarding the current Sponsored Ads system for UGC accessories. From my experience and from discussions with other creators, sponsoring UGC items often feels like it is completely ineffective compared to the amount of Robux we spend.
For example, you can spend significant amounts of Robux on sponsorships and receive large numbers of impressions/clicks, but you will see very few actual sales. You will be lucky to spend 10,000 robux on an ad and get 1-5 sales, basically a handful of sales as an end result regardless of how good the item is.
That raises a few questions to me:
- How are sponsored ads for UGC currently distributed/targeted?
- Can we get better documentation on how the marketplace works to promote items organically similarly to how experience discovery is well documented?
- Are there any plans to improve the conversion or targeting tools for UGC creators in regards to sponsored UGC items?
One of the biggest challenges for UGC creators is simply just getting items discovered by the right audience, currently it feels like all of the impressions are bots. How can hundreds or thousands of people click on an item and not purchase it? Advertising should ideally be a reliable way to reach users who want our items. But as it currently stands, the return on investment is extremely low. Which makes it difficult to justify ever using the feature knowing it will have no impact on our item or it’s discoverability with sales.
I think improvements need to be made in regards to targeting, analytics, or transparency around how ads are shown to make sponsorships more useful for creators and help the UGC ecosystem grow.
If this can be addressed it would greatly help all creators involved in UGC in the marketplace. As UGC is already expensive due to upload costs and publishing fees. We don’t want our hard earned Robux wasted on ads knowing it will not result in any meaningful sales or further discoverability of our items.
Please take note of this and look into it, thank you.
