Improve (Or Prioritize) Render Distance at Low Graphics Levels

Actually read the thread or go away, please. This isn’t about streaming enabled.

All evidence points to render distance throttling occurring at a very low amount of parts, at low settings. I would bet on you physically being unable to find a real, “optimized”, full game that has under 100 parts.

Render distance is only necessary to reduce when too many parts are rendered.

In even the most optimized of games, players will hit this limit, even when there is no actual processing power limitation in play.

Please remember to read and watch the videos in the initial topic.

What’s unoptimized about OP’s video? There aren’t scripts. there are only a few baseparts.
I’ve honestly never had this not happen, so I don’t know how it’s inconsistant for you..

Don’t throw a hissy fit without reading my posts with OP.

Worth mentioning that in the original post, there are valid reasons given as to why this affects players.

Some competitive games require longer render distances in order to play them effectively. Any game with snipers and large maps will require longer render distances in order to use the snipers effectively.

I’m not going to say developers should have control over the minimum render distance, they shouldn’t, it should be user choice if anything. I know that me as a kid would have loved to be able to see further on roblox without nearly crashing my computer due to all the other rendering effects forced on me as I upped the graphics quality.

As you said, yeah bloxstrap, fishstrap and other forks of it exist, but I really don’t think those should be offered as the actual alternatives, especially considering not everyone knows they exist, and not everyone can access them, often due to device.

I haven’t looking into it much, I am switching to Linux later this year (to avoid Windows 11), but I’m pretty sure that using bootstrappers with Sober isn’t possible, meaning that I wouldn’t be able to have control over the render distances and would be locked to the graphics bar (given not a problem for me, could be a problem for other people)

Really, roblox should just add separated graphics settings and keep the bar as a preset selector. Just allow people who want full control over their settings to have it, and hell if they think it’s too complicated for the average roblox user, put it behind an “Advanced Graphics Settings” button.

The way this happens is not severe enough to affect snipers. Lower FOV changes how far instances are rendered.

This has been an issue since Roblox began and nothing has changed.

The easiest way to fix render distance is to scale everything down by a factor of 3, this will boost how far you can see.

On a smaller Phantom Forces map, I can only see about half the distance I need to when scoping with a sniper, and no, the FOV change didn’t affect the render distance.

Due to the limited render distance, a sniper became as useful as an assault rifle or a DMR without a scope.

Exactly what I’m saying

This is not a good alternative at all lol.

Honestly absolutely insane you are recommending this. Don’t tell me not to throw a hissy fit if your reply to something on the engine feature requests board is “Actually, this shouldn’t be a feature request, just use a really stupid workaround!

Uh, no? The entire purpose of this board, and this thread, and the collective of all the posts on this thread, is to discuss why this should be added/changed. “Just use a really garbage workaround” is perhaps the most trollish, incoherent thing I can think of anyone replying here. And considering you’re not the first person to reply with nonsense like this, I don’t see any reason to tolerate it.

If you want to present reasoning for why this system doesn’t need an overhaul and be taken seriously, you’re going to have to do better than “Shrink your entire game to trick the render distance system”. Are you serious? Come on.
