Why do they use “Groups”
If they want communities? I guess whoever typed this is a non-corporate person.

Are these punishments intended for the worst offenders (e.g. groups created with intent to violate ToS) or should we start expecting punishment because a bunch of bots came in and spammed Free Robux links on our walls/forums?
Also, when does this take effect? Are we liable as of now and should close down our walls/forums if we don’t have resources to moderate them constantly?
I love how they always use the “Roblox” forum account whenever they don’t want backlash to the team responsible
Nevermind, I was too lazy to read everything else. Apparently it’s just Teams.
Nope. Still confused, they are the exact same thing.
I’m not sure what to think of this. Sure these changes are welcome, however I believe Group/Community Owners should not be held responsible for what other users say on group walls/forums.
The users that break the rules should be banned and their comments/messages need to be removed.
This whole “Holding Community Owners” accountable for what happens on their forums opens up a new “Ban Method”. People will be raiding group walls and forums just to ban the Creator of the Community.
Please rethink this. I will very Kindly stop using community forums if that’s the case because I don’t want people to join, swear in my community and get my account terminated.
This is a big middle finger for community owners that like to engage with their community and gather feedback from users. Please rethink this, and take action against people who actually break the rules.
I think such actions really say something about the platforms management
You’ll get nuked from robloxia by a space laser cause of a completely unscripted van, but you apparently get special treatment if you make something that’s actively harmful for children
And then roblox keeps flaunting their moderation as if there isn’t some sort of intentional ignorance/favoritism going on
What would be considered “off-topic” would depend on who you ask. For example, if my group is about cars and other ground vehicles, it wouldn’t make too much sense for discussion or talk about planes or boats (because neither of such are… cars and neither are ground vehicles, one is a sea vehicle and one is aerial.)
And ultimately, as I would see it. If you believe that a community or group is unfairly restricting what discussions are allowed within their forums, then you shouldn’t be there. Why care to be in a community that doesn’t care to respect what you want to say (within reason, of course.)
And just to make it absolutely clear, this still wouldn’t be a first amendment issue.
no, a group is the legacy version of a community. a little bit easier to understand this when you look at a groups permissions being greyed out in support of community controlled permissions and roles in the creator hub. the terminology is interchangeable but they are moving everything over from groups to support ‘communities’ slowly. all new features like the datastore manager and whatnot are editable from community-based controls for example
My response to this… I say we ban all words so we aren’t held accountable for scams or a random kid spamming bad stuff on our groups- I mean communities. Only non-banned word will be “Hello” as nothing can go wrong there.
Surely they’re reasonable enough about this rule to where this shouldn’t be a concern as long as they require that the posts have been left unmoderated for an extended period of time or that it is very evident the community isn’t being moderated.
The entire thread’s feedback on this is overwhelmingly negative, I’m certainly not the problem.
I’m sure hundreds of threads have been made at this point, I don’t view myself as one of these “cringey justice warriors” you speak of, I just know that one of these days it’s gonna blow up in Roblox’s face, you earn a living on this platform just like I do.
Can we cut off posting standard moderation crime on the Developer Forums? We can take that elsewhere.
This makes zero sense at all (not what you said, what Roblox is doing). This just makes everything confusing as hell. On the main Roblox site and Creator Hub, one is a Community, one is a Group, even though they are the exact same thing split in two.
This cannot be the current policy when there are barely any moderation controls/features for the new Forums feature. It’s near impossible to moderate at scale, so I will just be disabling the forums for my communities until we have a more realistic ability to meet these expectations.
I’m not sure what to think of it, people might just be able to join using alts, say unhinged stuff and mass report the group to get the owner banned.
The only way Roblox could make this work, is by never banning the community creator. A Warning should be enough. Otherwise people could just terminate community creators by spamming their group walls and abusing EU’s DSA reports system.
So your list looks like this:
boats
cars
horses
cats
dogs
motorcycles
maths
school
... any topic that can be talked about
sounds like you are in need of an allowed words list
You don’t necessarily have to actively engage with a community, simply giving negative feedback to a group/game that belongs to the group because XYZ reason(s) can get supressed if the developers implement a “no negative words” filter
If you care about safety then why in the red devil’s hell would you unterminate a condo game creator and then (allegedly) INVITE HIM TO THE MOST PRESTIGIOUS DEVELOPER GATHERING ON THE PLATFORM???
It’s impossible to take this company seriously when they claim to care about child safety and then turn around and let NSFW game creators walk free. Multiple times.
It boggles the mind.
addendum: oh, cool! We group owners are now liable for ROBLOX’s refusal/inability/crippling allergy to properly moderate(ing) their platform! I can’t wait for some chucklef### to come by and spam illegal content on my group wall so that they can report me to the European Union and get my account deleted! Wahoooo!
Gonna be disabling that on my group as soon as I can to avoid the liability that it is.
All due respect - stuff like needs to be taken into action NOW, not in the future. You guys have a Star Creator with a Roblox group that’s FILLED with disgusting people. I had put a support ticket a few days back for this and nothing has happened to this group
people in this thread need to understand roblox is a massive company. whatever support individual unbanned the condo dude has nothing to do with roblox adding support and moderation tools to communities. its also important to note that they dont just completely stop moderation themselves, everything posted in those areas still goes through their internal safety and moderation tools
Reminder: this is roblox, roblox is a jank factory and not a lot of this modernized stuff works as intended
If a community gets flooded with very ethically questionable content, the posters should be punished
And instead of moderating community owners, I feel like it would make more sense for them to lock posts temporarily and notify anyone with moderation powers about the questionable activity
Perhaps this could escalate with repeated or severe violations, but I feel like it shouldn’t extend to a full account ban
maybe feature him in the next creator spotlight
