As a Roblox developer, it is currently too hard to determine and proactively address policy issues affecting my group’s games.
Earlier today my experience Clip It, was moderated for certain policy violations. This itself is not an issue, and we are more than happy to make changes or fix outstanding policy violations as they are discovered. We are a small team, and we put forth an immense effort to follow every policy Roblox sets, but we cannot always perfectly interpret policies.
This was my first time having my experience moderated, and I can safely say two things made this incredibly frustrating:
- There was no warning or pre-emptive message from any members of Roblox about our case. If an issue is found for a game, especially one that has a clean history, with a decent player base. We should be given a timeframe or window to fix the issue, rather than suspending our experience immediately.
- Only the group holder receives moderation notices, as well as the reason for said suspension. This makes it incredibly difficult for experiences that have multiple developers of varying permissions to quickly respond to cases of moderation.
If Roblox is able to address this issue, it would improve my development experience by allowing developers to quickly resolve policy concerns before they impact our players. A warning system would transform moderation from a stressful emergency into a standard task. For small teams like ours who genuinely strive to comply with all policies, having the opportunity to address issues proactively rather than face immediate suspension would significantly reduce stress and financial uncertainty.
TLDR:
- We did not get notified before we were moderated.
- We did not understand the policy rules or how they effected us to begin with.
- Everyone with edit permissions on the place should be notified, not just the group owner.
