I have a question regarding Roblox TOS. I’m currently in the works of adding an in-game money system into my game but I haven’t made the script yet that provides it with a way to purchase items. Would this be against TOS to have an in-game money system that is paid via Robux and not have any items to buy with the in game currency? (It hasn’t been added in yet)
Perfectly fine as far as rules, but, why even implement a useless cash system in the first place? It’d just confuse players. I’d hold off on implementing it until you actually have something for players to spend it on.
The Terms of Use is concerned with honouring purchases not the fine print of every single game (though you should still use common sense in most situations).
You’re opening up a venue for players to purchase currency but haven’t set up the items yet, that’s fine. The spending of Robux to receive currency is a different circumstance from being able to spend it, though players should eventually be able to use their purchases in games. That’s what you’ll get to.
I think you should finish your shop before letting players purchase currency though so you have a sense of the value of your items ready. I’ve had a horrid experience with poorly planned monetisation and trying to undo it later into development. There’s no real sense in having currency without a use for it so you should probably include some baseline shop items when releasing your game.
That’s my opinion though. Whatever floats your boat, so long as it’s eventually spendable.
As far as I know, selling group ranks without giving anything back is against the TOS. However, in your case, I don’t think it’s a problem, since as you mentioned, you will be adding a shop later. If I were you, I would inform everyone who was buying the developer product that a shop will be coming soon to avoid misunderstandings.
