Summary:
The sorting or ranking order of roles shown in the community/group member dropdown list does not match the configured hierarchy or list order set by the group owner/administrators.
Steps to Reproduce:
Navigate to the Group/Community configuration page where roles are listed in a specific hierarchical order (e.g., from Founder down to Customer, as seen in Image 2).
Go to the Members management or dropdown selection view (as seen in Image 3).
Observe the sequence in which the roles are displayed.
Observed Behavior:
The roles in the members dropdown view appear out of order or inverted compared to the actual role hierarchy list (e.g., lower or mid-tier roles like Chief Communication Officer and Chief Staffing Officer appear out of sequence relative to Chief Recruitment Officer, or the entire list appears inverted/randomized).
The ranking order of roles in the members dropdown list should precisely match the defined hierarchical order of the roles configured in the group settings (maintaining consistent top-down or bottom-up sorting across all UI components).
Additional Notes:
The roles experiencing sorting issues share the same rank ID (ID 14), which cannot be changed due to our current group structure.
However, these roles previously maintained the correct ordering despite sharing ID 14, and the misalignment is an unexpected regression.
Does the order in the configure groups list now match the members list? If so, you should just need to change the ranks of the roles to fix the ordering. But if the orders in the two lists are still mismatched, I’ll take another look and see if we missed something.
Thank you for your response. However, I believe there has been a misunderstanding regarding the issue I reported.
The problem is not that the roles need to have their ranks changed. The affected roles intentionally share the same Rank ID (14), and due to our existing group structure, changing their Rank IDs is not an option.
Previously, despite multiple roles sharing Rank ID 14, the roles displayed in the correct order according to the hierarchy configured by the group owner/administrators. The ordering worked correctly for our group.
After Roblox implemented the newer group role changes, including multi-role assignment and the addition of the “Member” role/system, the ordering in the Members management dropdown changed unexpectedly. Roles that previously appeared in the correct configured order are now displayed out of sequence.
The Configure Group role hierarchy and the Members dropdown are still mismatched. Therefore, this is not resolved by changing the ranks, as the issue is specifically that Roblox previously supported a consistent ordering for roles sharing the same Rank ID, but a recent update appears to have changed or broken that behavior.
To clarify:
Multiple roles sharing Rank ID 14 is intentional and existed before this issue.
These roles previously displayed in the correct configured hierarchy/order.
We did not change the role structure or Rank IDs.
The incorrect ordering began after Roblox introduced the newer multi-role assignment and Member-related group changes.
Changing Rank IDs would alter our existing group structure and does not address the regression being reported.
Could you please take another look at whether the new group role system changed the sorting logic for roles with identical Rank IDs? The expected behavior is that roles sharing the same Rank ID should retain their configured hierarchy/list ordering consistently across both the Configure Group page and the Members role selection dropdown, as they did previously.
