Innapropiate Speech Bubbles being Allowed Through Moderation

Why are items that discuss the topic of autism as a funny or comedic trait allowed to be sold? You’re not even able to use the words “autism” or “autistic” in experiences since it has been known to be glorified into calling people stupid or outright weird. Moderation should be consist if players are going to be banned for using these words to describe others.

I think these kind of “text bubbles” in general have been used as an excuse to discuss topics that aren’t age appropriate for the platform, especially with circumventing what current moderators are expected to know regarding slang.

The item featured above quite literally is just telling other players “Sorry, I’m high.” Moderators should be informed on current slang, or at the very least accept reports detailing how these items are violative to the Terms of Service. There are many such speech bubbles that violate these same rules, which I will link as a reply to my post.

I don’t even think I have to describe why this is inappropriate. At this point, I’m just disappointed in moderation, and it’s no wonder why child safety is an issue on this platform.

I have no problem with these items in general, I think they can be a great way for people to express themselves on the platform. Especially with trends, music, and slang which are all age appropriate. But when that line starts to become crossed, items like these thrive, which shouldn’t be allowed in any capacity.

Expected behavior

The moderation system on Roblox needs to be more consistent and informed when it comes to user-generated content, especially items that mock autism, reference drug use, or cross age-appropriate boundaries. Current speech bubble accessories often slip through moderation by using slang or coded language, which leads to harmful or inappropriate content being sold on the platform.

To fix this, moderators should be better trained on modern slang and cultural context, align catalog rules with in-game chat policies, and take user reports more seriously to ensure that self-expression remains safe and respectful for all users.

If possible, I’d love for moderation to review these items once more, because these all seem to have an inappropriate intention with the words they’ve made these text bubbles display.

My basis for all of these items are: If you’re not allowed to say these things ingame, why are creators allowed to visually represent all of these words?

The speech bubbles that reference autism are clearly against the rules, but some moderators are clearly unaware of this:

The best-selling one of all time was deleted just yesterday:

And many others have been deleted in the past:

Again, a clear case of moderation inconsistency and moderators being unaware of the implications of these phrases to disabled people.

Glad people are noticing that these items are against the rules, and that some moderation is being taken. Though, my list is still extensive, moderation should look into this further.

I really do hate the autism speech bubbles as they display autism as some “quirky” thing.

This was just from clicking on some notification that roblox randomly sent and scrolling down about a few screens worth

It takes absolutely no effort to find UGC that go against rules or which are just ethically wrong

I want to question how someone saying “im autistic” violates any rules because I think it’s perfectly fine for someone to accept that about themselves, and it carries a completely neutral meaning. I don’t know how any of these are even getting deleted.

I remember the meaning from the last time I had a dictionary in my hands, but I’m pretty sure if you open up any dictionary, you’ll see that “geek” and “geeked” have a bunch of meanings like “highly excited or enthusiastic,” “filled with excitement or enthusiasm,” “someone who is very interested in a particular subject and knows a lot about it,'” or “someone who is intelligent but not fashionable or popular.”

So I can confidently say that this doesn’t violate any policies, because the most common interpretations are completely fine.

In fact, if you remember, there’s that meme — Geeked vs Locked In — where someone looks super excited in the “geeked” panel, and in the “locked in” one, they’re all calm and focused. That’s kind of what I was referring to anyway. But yeah, looks completely fine.

Item both insinuates that autistic people cannot date women, and also that they are mentally or physically unable because of their disability. Is this what you want “allowed” on the platform? What do you want Roblox to stand for if this is allowed? This is plain discrimination and I’m not sure why this is being allowed just because it’s haha funny autistic people don’t know how to date women. I’m sure the target demographic isn’t being reached and it’s only being used as something comedic.

Also; Chat filters don’t allow the word and it’s previously been deleted by moderators.

Please read the thread before you comment.

First of all, I can type it in the chat and it’s not even censored, so I don’t know what you all are talking about.

Secondly, even if this “ladies” argument were true, if you look at the screenshot @bvetterdays posted, even texts that just say “I have autism” are being deleted — so they’re not allowing it even without that factor, which does not make any sense at all, and these items shouldn’t be removed.

Thirdly, if the item actually violates the rules, then complaining here shows that you’re not using the proper channel. You can find more information on how to report content on Roblox here: https://en.help.roblox.com/hc/en-us/articles/203312410-How-to-Report-Rule-Violations — the bug report category is not the right place to submit items you want removed or to file a complaint.

Now report yourself via your alt and see if you get banned. Congratulations you solved the idiot test. Secondly, the word autistic can be used to celebrate neurodivergent folk, but it clearly isn’t. Do you really think these items aren’t being used in a mocking tone? A giant arrow labelling you as such? Third, these items shouldn’t of been allowed past moderation, which is what I am reporting. If you read the thread, you would understand so. Please, stop trying to find ways to interpret these items as a net good for the platform. You’re like one comment away from trying to defend the I love my boyfriend speech bubble too.

You know what people are using this speech bubble to indicate and your trying to find excuses for it.
Via urban dictionary:

Citing Urban Dictionary isn’t really helping your case. It’s not exactly a reliable source—it’s just user-submitted content with no real moderation. If we’re talking actual dictionaries, we should be looking at things like Oxford, Cambridge, Merriam-Webster… you know, actual sources with editorial review.

That said, this isn’t even the main issue.

If “geek” is a problem just because it has a slang meaning tied to drugs, then what about words like “pop, blow, plug, lit, high, joint, smack”? All of those have slang meanings too, some even more directly tied to drug use. But in normal usage, they’re totally harmless—pop a balloon, plug in your phone, high on a rollercoaster, joint pain, etc.

So unless the plan is to start banning half the dictionary, it really feels like this is just singling out one word to try and fix a much broader issue. If the literal meaning isn’t offensive—and in this case, it clearly isn’t—then removing it just because there’s a slang meaning out there comes across as inconsistent.

As for the UGC speech bubble item that says “mb im geeked,” I don’t see any rule violation there at all, given the context. But if you still believe it goes against the rules, you can report it: https://en.help.roblox.com/hc/en-us/articles/203312410-How-to-Report-Rule-Violations

“Geek” and “geeked” mostly just mean someone who’s really into something or super excited. You can easily check any trusted dictionary online—Oxford, Merriam-Webster, Cambridge—all say similar things.

Wow, you really just want to mess with everyone on the forum. You can say the same thing about the word “high” in any use case, just because the dictionary doesn’t list it’s slang meaning doesn’t mean it isn’t being used on inappropriately. If there was a speech bubble saying “mb im high” you know it’d be promptly deleted. Geeked and high mean the same thing and they’re both being sold with the same context.

If geeked is being referred to as the same thing as happy or excited then ask me why they aren’t saying “mb im excited.”

You’re using all these words in an appropriate context, no wonder they make sense given the sentences your placing them in.

Again, your AI responses refuse to understand the context in whatever your talking about.

It’s obvious that people who defend the austism thingy either have never been on the internet or they clearly know the intended meaning and don’t care
