Introducing Roblox Plus

Hi creators,

Starting April 30, we’re introducing Roblox Plus, a new subscription designed for our most engaged players. Roblox Plus will be available globally for $4.99 USD per month. By providing exclusive platform benefits as well as discounts on in-game and avatar items, Roblox Plus enables users to stretch their Robux further while allowing creators to unlock new revenue streams.

What subscribers get with Roblox Plus:

  • Robux goes further with Plus: Players get 10% off in-game items, avatars and more instantly. The discount doubles to 20% off these items in month three and onward. This discount is provided by Roblox.

  • Free and unlimited paid private servers: Players get unlimited paid private servers for free, while Roblox will pay creators when these subscribers spend time in their game’s paid private server(s).

  • Robux transfers for free: Players can transfer Robux at no cost for the sender or recipient. Parental approval required for users under the age of 18.

    • :warning:Note: Robux received through the transfer Robux feature cannot be DevEx’d.
  • Marketplace access: Subscribers can trade and resell limited items as well as publish and sell avatar items.

    • Note: For avatar creators, an existing Premium subscription still allows access to these Marketplace privileges. (Learn more: Marketplace creator requirements)
  • Monthly Robux: Starting in May, you will have the ability to add a monthly Robux package to a Roblox Plus subscription.

Overview: How creators can earn from Roblox Plus

This is a general overview of how creators can earn from Roblox Plus. Click on any of the categories below to learn more about each implementation.

How creators can earn from Roblox Plus:

  1. Earn more from Plus subscribers’ purchases: Plus subscribers receive a 10%–20% discount on purchases. This discount is provided by Roblox.

  2. Get bonuses for driving Plus sign-ups: Grow your overall earnings, up to 750 Robux per newly acquired Plus subscriber, by getting your highly engaged players to sign-up for Roblox Plus in your game via the PromptRobloxSubscriptionPurchase API.

  3. Monetize a Plus subscriber’s time in a paid private server(s): Get rewarded when Plus subscribers spend meaningful time in your paid private servers.

We plan to expand and add features to increase value for players and to create more earning opportunities for creators.

1. Earn more from Plus subscribers’ purchases

With Roblox Plus, players get 10% off Robux purchases of in-game items (passes and developer products), avatar items, developer subscriptions in Robux and more. This increases to a 20% discount in the third consecutive month onward as a subscriber, rewarding continued membership. This discount is provided by Roblox while creators continue to earn their share.

  • Roblox discounts: Plus members receive a 10%–20% discount on purchases. These discounts are provided by Roblox, meaning your effective revenue share actually increases.

  • Higher conversion: Lower prices for players can lead to more frequent purchases of developer products, passes, avatar items and more. To drive more conversions by displaying the accurate discounted price for a Plus subscriber, move away from hard-coding your prices and get accurate pricing through the GetProductInfoAsync API.

2. Get bonuses for driving Plus sign-ups

Creators will be rewarded for every player who becomes a Plus subscriber within their game via the PromptRobloxSubscriptionPurchase API. You’ll earn a bonus of 250 Robux per month for the subscriber’s first three consecutive months—up to 750 Robux per newly acquired Plus subscriber.

3. Monetize a Plus subscriber’s time in a paid private server(s)

Roblox Plus members receive free access to paid private servers. Since Plus subscribers get them for free, we still want to give creators a way to earn by rewarding our creators when Plus subscribers spend meaningful time in paid private servers.

On each successful Plus subscription renewal, Roblox looks back at the previous 30 days to evaluate paid private server usage for that subscriber. Roblox will pay creators when these subscribers spend 60+ cumulative minutes over a 30 day period in a game’s paid private servers (up to 100 Robux per subscriber). Today, most players spending time in paid private servers hit this 60 minute per month threshold and are expected to qualify for payout.

  • A Plus subscriber must spend 60 or more minutes in a paid private server over the course of 30 days for that server to qualify.

  • For each Plus subscriber, Roblox considers the top 5 paid private servers where that user spent the most qualifying time over 30 days.

  • If a paid private server qualifies, Roblox will pay the creator based on the server price, up to a maximum of 100 Robux per subscriber per server.

Example

Paid private server A, B and C qualify because a subscriber spent 60 or more cumulative minutes in each paid private server during the month. Paid private servers D and E do not qualify because the user spent fewer than 60 cumulative minutes in those paid private servers over 30 days.

The creator(s) would earn a total of 205 Robux. More specifically:

FAQs

What does this mean for avatar creators who rely on Premium to publish and keep items on sale?

  • Premium and Plus will both be accepted for avatar creators’ eligibility to publish and keep items on sale.

This means a creator’s existing Premium subscription will still allow access to these Marketplace privileges. Roblox Plus will also include the ability for creators to publish and keep avatar items on sale and participate in the resale of Limiteds.

What happens to Premium subscribers?

  • We will stop selling Roblox Premium to new subscribers. If you cancel, you won’t be able to resubscribe to Premium. Premium subscribers will receive a notification in their inbox giving them a heads-up on what is happening to their subscription and their options.

    • What’s staying the same for Premium subscribers:
      • Receiving monthly Robux
      • Ability to trade items
      • Ability to publish avatar items and keep them on sale
    • What’s changing for Premium subscribers:
      • The 10% bonus on Robux purchases will end.
      • The Premium logo will be removed.

These updates will take effect on May 30, 2026.Premium subscribers will be eligible for a 1-month free trial of Roblox Plus, and we’ll email a link to claim it on launch day at the end of April.

Premium subscribers can learn more here.

With Premium, there’s a Robux stipend. What about Plus?

  • In May, we will add the ability to add a monthly Robux package to Roblox Plus.

Can I still create free private servers?

  • You will still have the ability to make your private servers free or paid. Free private servers are not eligible for creator earnings with time spent by Plus subscribers.

How are Private Server earnings calculated across multiple Plus subscibers?

  • Earnings are based on the top 5 paid private servers where a Plus subscriber spends at least 60 minutes. If they meet that threshold in your server, you are compensated based on your server’s price, capped at 100 Robux per subscriber.

A user in my game subscribed to a one-month trial of Roblox Plus through the PromptRobloxSubscriptionPurchase API. What does that mean for my Plus sign-up bonus?

  • You will begin receiving the Plus sign-up bonus once the user begins paying for Roblox Plus in the month after their trial ends.

How are you managing botting for private servers?

  • Roblox may use a variety of signals to detect and discount inauthentic activity, including alt-account detection.

Do you mean Roblox Premium? What’s the point?. Just keep Premium, there’s no point in making a brand new subscription. Literally just add these features into the one you already have and have had for years.

roblox premium is quite outdated with almost no perks and i’m glad it’s getting replaced, after reading all of this, doesn’t seem so bad yet, okay job roblox :+1:

Will their be a Plus badge next to you’re name like the Premium badge?

I have two points.

a) I had lifetime OBC/Premium 20, before Roblox randomly took it away from me in 2019. I assume the lifetime subscriptions are staying. Also, I would appreciate it if Roblox could give me my lifetime Premium back; I have been emailing about it for over 5 years, now.
b) Currently, you need Premium 10 to sell items. Is this now going to be included in the $5 subscription?

Thanks.

For a good second, I thought I was looking at an April Fool’s post. But, hey, some of these features sound sweet. Robux transfers and free private servers? Those are BRAND new benefits.

I just worry that means the robux stipend versions will be more expensive than the current prices of the Premium subscriptions of equivalent value.

In other words, Roblox premium is getting renamed and gets new features.
There, saved you a minute.

Sooo what i’m hearing, you’re losing money

So you don’t even get monthly robux from whatever this Plus is?? You’re going to have to pay EXTRA??? On top of Plus?

ngl the creator side is actually decent, effective rev share going from 70% to 88% because roblox eats the discount is kinda smart and the 750 robux signup bonus per converted player adds up if your game has good retention

but the private server cap is weird. if your server costs 500 robux you still only get 100 max per subscriber so the more expensive your server the worse that earning stream is compared to just a normal purchase

also no robux included at launch and then “oh we’re adding that in may” is sus. premium had it built in, now you pay $4.99 and have to pay extra on top for robux?? that’s just worse for players unless you’re buying a ton of in-game stuff constantly

so this is just roblox premium but
renamed and a few new features

i mean okay

Big question. Is there a way to change to Plus without lapsing my premium? I need it to have my items on sale.

How much will the creator be paid if a Plus user joins a private server for free, when a normal user has to pay 200 Robux? Assuming the Plus user has spent 60 minutes in that private server in total.

How does this affect Creator Rewards if Premium is being retired? $4.99 per month makes it so most players will be doing $9.98 every 2 months, which is 1 cent below the [believed to be] intentional requirement of $9.99 in that period to reduce payouts.
