disabling it does solve the error parts but makes it so R6 animations dont work on the R15 character, which were possible prior to disabling it before the entire character fell apart, with it kind of negating parts of its usecase for R6 experience using custom animations i reckon
I’m going to point out a counterargument that people seem to be missing (unless I skimmed it). People seem to be stuck on the fact that the R15 requirement is the limiting factor, however, you have to check if your game would even benefit from it to begin with.
These are the stats from my game, Noob Mayhem Noob Mayhem! | Play on Roblox
if you do the math, only 23% of players are based in USA, and in that 23%, only ~10% of players are actually 18+, meaning the total profit gain from this rate increase is only less than 1% at 0.97, so the fact my game is not R15 would not matter as the increase would be barely noticeable.
Check if your game would benefit from this before assuming you are missing out on a large profit gain.
baller avatar btw "A _______ must ________ as a_______
Bro thought we wouldn’t notice that R15 requirement huh
roblox next update can you remove r6 completely or maybe make it so games using r6 arent eligible for devex
preciate it
people over 18+ love realistic avatars!
also same people who played before R15 and before avatars even resembled anything realistic
You’re part of the problem. Roblox used to be peak when people made actually good high effort games. Now everything is engagement slop and is ruining the platform.
i think ur nostalgia baiting im ngl dude, tycoons were low effort, cart rides, obbies etc. roblox has always had this genre of games. again just cuz u dont like a game doesnt mean it doesnt deserve money lol please get off your moral high horse lol
“não há nada tão ruim que não possa piorar”
Since we need use R15 in the game for the devex increase, who makes obbies, or classic games, they won’t get more money from DevEx
This update is good only for devs that makes more realitic games
I’m sorry did you like only play tycoons? I played Phantom Forces, Strucid, Arsenal, A bunch of high quality horror puzzle games, some tycoons, lumber tycoon 2, retail tycoon, etc etc. Those are all high quality high effort games. In case you aren’t aware most engagement slop games are created using AI, templates, plugins etc. There’s minimal work required to create an engagement slop game
like are we really adjusting the seat height right now. do you think that an 18+ player coming to roblox is going to be up in arms about whether or not the game they’re playing has a smiling cartoony blocky plastic avatar in 15 body parts instead of 6 instead of, like, whether the game is actually something worth playing in the first place and not just another addictive brightly colored copy and paste child gambling simulator that only exists to make its devs money. or is this about lying to shareholders again about “engagement” or whatever
From “Powering Imagination” to “Empowering Investors”.
It’s a shame the only time you’re willing to pay the people that keep your platform one of the #1 most played games in the WORLD is when they conform to your standards.
Typical “do better” from me.
For existing 18+ games and games that get a sizeable chunk of 18+ players, their future becomes largely uncertain due to one major factor:
That ‘small’ amount of 18+ players is still more likely to spend. They are adults and therefore have more money at their disposal for things on Roblox if they are an active user on the platform. Even though this update may seem to cause this small revenue bump, this is a form of slowly bleeding R6 to death as Roblox is seeing the opportunity brought by an increase in 18+ users.
These are major signs that they want a slice of the ‘metaverse’ industry; yet, Facebook has been struggling with their own metaverse, and other “metaverse” styled platforms have experienced declines since 2021. Roblox has seen severe booking declines for this year by over one billion dollars as well. So it seems like a cry for more 18+ R15 games to increase revenue after the age verification problem.
This game started as a children’s platform, and a ton of experiences from the past were designed for years of man hours with that environment in mind. This outrage is fully understandable.
can we use R15 avatars but doing R6 animations ?
I had been planning to use R15 since before these avatar requirements were introduced. It is for the sake of sophisticated animations.
However, since it is a shooting game, all body shapes are fixed to one for balance, just like in Dueling Ground.
And I’m using a dynamic head to classic head converter. Why? Because I will be using custom movement animations, so I don’t have the resources to do face animations, and they aren’t necessary for the game. It is because I don’t want to see all the avatars in my game making expressions like " : | ".
But even so, I will still benefit from it simply because it is R15. Hmm…
Isn’t this a bit unfair to r6 and custom rig game makers?
kick a lucky block for brainrots is NOT realistic
No. ‘Realistic’ and r15 have absolutely no correlation, and realistic games can naturally rise simply by supporting revenue from adult users.
The r15 requirement was completely unnecessary. That was just another intention of a third party to intervene.
It is quite unreasonable for Roblox to link R15 with realism, and I do not think this update is being done to support truly realistic games, but rather for the part of ‘Unified Avatar’ updates.(as they say)
We’ve updated RBLXTax to support the new US 18+ DevEx rate.
The calculator now shows the new rate, the legacy rate, and the new 18+ boosted payout rate so developers can easily compare their estimated DevEx earnings.
I will not sacrifice myself for your R15 mammonist ways
