Invalid EIN for DevEx?

Not sure if anyone here can help me with this, but I opened a support ticket 10 DAYS ago and have yet to receive a response, so maybe one of you all can help me. This issue is pretty urgent as I am a full time developer and rely on income from my games to support myself.

I have been cashing out through DevEx every month since the summer of 2021. I work with a partner and when we started out, I would just cash out on my account and have the money sent to my personal bank account, then would PayPal him his 50% of the monthly revenue. This worked fine, but as our games have grown, we decided it would be best to incorporate to an LLC to be more organized and professional with our finances and taxes.

So, just after the New Year, I went through the process of setting up our LLC and registering it with the state. By January 10th, my LLC was fully set up and registered with the state, and I had opened a company bank account for the money to be sent to. On January 11th, I went into my DevEx portal and changed from Individual to Company and then filled out a new tax form. I filled out my tax form carefully and at this point have checked over everything so many times. Everything in it is EXACTLY how it appears on my documents from the IRS.

I then proceeded to cash out. About an hour later, I received an email from ROBLOX saying that,

" We failed to validate the EIN you filled on your submitted W9 tax form. Please login to the [DevEx portal], head to the Tax Form page and edit your tax form to correct this error so we’ll be able to remit payment to you."

So I went there and checked over my tax form again. Like I said, everything I put in there is exactly how it appears on my LLC’s official government papers, including my EIN. I’ve tried to resubmit the tax form in hopes that maybe it’ll accept it this time, but it just keeps telling me over and over that the EIN is not valid.

I opened a support ticket on January 12th, explaining the issue in detail and sending a copy of my EIN paper from the IRS. It is now January 22nd and I have yet to receive a response. I have been unable to get into contact with anyone at ROBLOX who can help me with this issue. It is fairly urgent because as I stated previously, my partner and I do this full time and this is our main source of income. If anyone could help that would be great. Thanks.

Are you sure the LLC is completely established, or more specifically, the EIN? You should probably check and validate the EIN yourself, if possible.

Yes, it is. The IRS sent me a paper specifically about them issuing me an EIN, and what the number was. I scanned it and attached it to my support ticket 5 days ago, still waiting for a response from them. It’s been 13 days now with no response. Incredible, really.

Here’s what the IRS sent me and what I attached to the support ticket.

Does the DevEx portal page you are using use data from any other sources to identify you? If so, try revalidating those. I’m not really sure how DevEx works these days.

Going on 14 days now with no response to my support ticket. Anyone know alternative ways of reaching someone in the Dev Relations department? This is getting ridiculous at this point.

I believe there is an email you can go to for this, but also possibly a DevForum group you can DM.

It’s weird that nobody is able to answer this question.

Tried emailing the old DevEx email directly (DevEx@roblox.com) but just got an automated reply immediately saying that they no longer accept direct inquiries to that address, and to open a ticket using the support form. The support form is clearly not sufficient because I haven’t received any response in 15 days now. Not sure what else to try.

This is really a major issue with ROBLOX, it should not be virtually impossible for developers to get in contact with someone regarding DevEx in a timely manner.

Just for an update,

It has now been 24 days without a response. I actually activated a business debit card with the bank today using my EIN from the IRS (the same one I’ve given ROBLOX), and it worked fine. It’s a valid number.

I opened a general support ticket under the feedback section on January 29th referencing my original ticket number and how I had yet to get a response, and giving general feedback about the poor support for developers. I got a response on the 31st saying that they had escalated my ticket to “Developer Exchange Specialists” and that I should get a response in no later than 7 to 10 business days.

Hoping someone actually gets back to me this time. This would be funny if I wasn’t on the verge of being unable to pay for things like groceries and car insurance because I thought relying on ROBLOX as a primary income source was a good idea.
