Is ‘advertising’ an in-game brand/company allowed?

Hello!

I am looking to create a system in which a player can spend their in-game currency to ‘advertise’ their brand. This will then return some amount of cash after a set period of time (probably 24 hours).
My question is, does this count as gambling? The player isn’t guaranteed to actually make money and could end up losing some of what they originally spent.

For example, let’s say Bob spends 15,000 of his money on an advertisement, and, after 24 hours, gets 12,781 back.
Sarah also spend 15,000 of her money but gets 18,064 back.

The amount of money you receive is determined at random, and nothing can actually influence this decision. The player will be informed of the outcome before they spend anything (like 10,000 - 20,000 in Bob and Sarah’s case).

So once again, does this count as gambling?

Thank you!

It is gambling, however maybe if you add a disclaimer on how exactly how the system works (that this is entirely random) you might be able to add this in. I’d recommend looking at Roblox’s TOS further before doing it though as I am not an expert on this type of thing.

Hiya there!

I’m pretty sure such a system would be allowed. Yes, it may be gambling, but a lot of games have some sort of gambling aspect. I’m not trying to say gambling is good, because it definitely isn’t. But your system does inform the player about the outcome before they spend their money. Then again, I’m not an expert so I’d recommend doing some more research and getting advice from more qualified people. Hope this helps you in some way.

I think gambling is allowed in games, just not gambling with real world money. I mean, games like case clicker and all those egg hatching functions in every cookie cutter simulator can be considered gambling, and they’re still up despite being very popular (or were).

This is not considered Gambling. Simply Advertising. An example would be
https://www.roblox.com/games/5118029260/VR-Group-Recruiting-Plaza-2020
Where they have a system similar to what you mentioned.

As long as you aren’t promising returns, or directly giving them any form of payment( That is not in-game Currency ), then it’s within Roblox’s TOS.

You’re simply making a system that they can use to Advertise their products, it is within their own risks to use it.

It all depends on what you’re actually doing related to ‘advertising’ in-game, as there can be several different situations on which it could or couldn’t work.

Now a main factor here is that he has made the game, it sort of worked, and I was the amazing modeller for it.

So basically it depends on what your doing, and how close it actually is to advertising.
