I’m currently working on an upcoming story-driven Roblox game called The Saint, and I’m considering adding a side activity that lets players play a card game called “Twenty-One.” It’s very similar to Blackjack in terms of mechanics (trying to get close to 21 without going over), but it does not involve any gambling — no Robux, in-game currency, or real-world value is ever at stake.
It’s just a fun, strategic mini-game that fits the story — no gambling involved. Just want to check if this is allowed under Roblox’s rules, thanks.
I’ve seen these created one too many times. Make the game. If Roblox gives you a hard time about it… then we can have something to say here and be supportive of you. Your game looks great. Please don’t fear being a developer. It’s getting a little ridiculous that Roblox has amazing developers in fear of being banned just for making a cool game.
LocalThunk ran into the issue of moderation, so you’re never gonna be 100% safe.
I myself will always prioritize improving the game over player numbers, but if you’re relying on these games for monetary income you could consider leaving it out, or having a quick backup plan if Roblox moderates it.
You could change the card graphics to something less mainstream if it fits the game world somehow (because regular cards are often associated with gambling). Replacing the suits with fruits. For example hearts = apples.
Thanks for your support—I really appreciate it. I’ve decided I might just switch the cards to display only the numbers they represent. Since this is just a small side activity and not the main focus of the game, it’s not a huge deal. While I could probably get away with using actual card designs, I’d rather not take the risk.
And honestly, Roblox really needs to be more transparent about what they want on the platform. They crack down on certain games for including gambling mechanics, yet still allow catalog items that clearly promote gambling. It feels inconsistent, and it makes it hard for developers to know where the line is
