Is abilities/perks for my horror game a good or bad idea?

Hello everyone!

I am making a horror game called ‘Song Of Harmony’, a multiplayer horror game up to 5 players can play.

You could say this game (when it comes out) is inspired by The Mimic, but if anything this game is mostly inspired by the ROBLOX game Recovery and Outlast 1.

I say Outlast because in Song Of Harmony, there will be 5 characters in each story (the 5 characters will be in that book’s timelime basically)
In Outlast, the main character has a camera to help him navigate better, but he’s also notorious to not being able to fight back, but his special perk is the camera that helps him through the game.

I want my game to stand out more than some other ROBLOX horror game, so I decided should I give the characters perks too?
And if you’re wondering what perks I’m suggesting for the first story, then here’s a list:

Erica: (Reporter) - has a camera that processes night vision…
Pastor Mike: (Pastor) - has a bible that can stop the monsters movements for 10 seconds…
Sister Abby: (Nun) - can pray which will make the monsters reveal their location…
Michael: (Patrol Guard) - will be able to “YELL” which will attract the monster’s attention and go to his location… (this one might be complicated for me to script)
Richard: (Discharged Marine) - will have more walkspeed than the other characters ^…

And yes, I plan to make it where each perk will have a cooldown depending on how OP their abilities are.
also like I said, these characters will be in Book I, other stories will be different characters, different perks.

Do you think I should do this concept? Feedback? Suggestions?

I think abilities are a great idea if they fit in with your game, which it seems they probably will.
You shouldn’t think of them as a finalised concept though - try playing your game with the abilities, and if one doesn’t seem interesting or doesn’t work well then change it then.

While some abilities may seem interesting at first glance, you only seem to be giving one ability to each character, so you should think: Is this ability alone enough to make the game interesting?
