Been making a game since 5/15/2025 and it’s been going really well i’ve been iterating on it making it better improving it week by week, I’ve added countless features, and I’m actively and consistently sponsoring and I seem to be breaking into recommended and everyone who has played it said the game is genuinely fun, but at this point other then creating more content for the king’s moves I’m not sure what else I can do to boost all metrics and fully break into the algorithm, do I just need to keep consistently sponsoring and just thug it out and of course keep trying to iterate on any problems the game might have?
Like my goal is too reach 1 - 1.5k players and I know I can do it, I just don’t know what else I can really do other then consistently sponsoring and iterating on the game
First you have to figure out game problems, like you said fixing any bugs or issues while you have a smaller player count. Then you have to work on actual game metrics.
Roblox is pretty transparent on what leads to them recommending players (and I cannot stress enough how important it is that your game gets recommended. It’s like free advertising on a scale that sponsors do not keep up with). Check out this wiki Acquisition | Documentation - Roblox Creator Hub
There are a few things that contribute to your game being seen, and it mostly boils down to:
Do users click on your game when they see it (is the thumbnail appealing)
Do users play your game long enough
Do users play your game with friends
Do users spend enough Robux in your game
If you solve for all four of those questions, your game will do well. It’s an algorithm so you just have to work with it.
Yeah I know what it takes to get into the algorithm is what specifically I can do to have the stay longer, play the game with their friends and SPEND more money in the game
My feedback has not changed since the last time you asked for feedback.
Here are the current most negative aspects:
The gameplay is fun, but it really lacks diversification. You should add different punch styles and VFX, as well as the ability to equip a set of them. For example, you could have 3 slots at the bottom of the screen that display your equipped abilities, which could be attack, defense or movement skills. These abilities could be activated using input keys such as left button, right button, or Q/E/F/R, with a cooldown displayed. For mobile players, this could be implemented as buttons around the jump button instead of slots.
There is only a single map to fight on, and it is not even a good one. The map is bland and empty, and the “hill” pyramid is too high compared to the base floor. There is too much verticality, which is annoying to play, especially on mobile. You could implement a round system where the map changes every X minutes, and each map has its own theme and features. For example, a desert map could have tornadoes that move around and sweep players, while a futuristic map could feature bumps and low-gravity zones. These kinds of variations could make the gameplay more interesting and fun.
There is a lack of engagement and addictiveness. We earn money while playing, but there is nothing to spend it on. Following on the first point, you could introduce a case-opening system that gives a random ability of varying rarity. The rarest ones could have incredible VFX that players really want to obtain, encouraging them to spend Robux.
You should take example from the Blade Ball game, as they are the most similar game and are performing very well in terms of popularity and earnings.
You have been spending money on advertising non-stop for a month, but it won’t lead to success if you don’t address these issues first. Currently, you’re just throwing money out the window and damaging your game’s analytics. If your game were good enough, it would already have over 500 concurrent players and been promoted by Roblox.
I played your game and I have feedback for it. This is what I think the main issues are in ranked order:
This is your power shop. I think a lot of people probably don’t even notice what it is, or that it’s even there - and even if they did, you have one thing for sale, and it’s for $1350 (which is going to take a WHILE to get). Definitely make it more appealing and clear, but only when you’re actually selling more stuff.
You 100% need more things on sale. Powers - both for the king, but also not! Why can’t you let everyone use the dash ability? Maybe the king could instead have 2 powers, or more knockback resistance? There’s plenty to iterate on there.
Cosmetics like some kind of aura when you’re the king (maybe different crown models!), weapons that are just visual, etc. - there’s SO much potential there, and people will definitely buy them.
It’s endless, and there’s no real sense of reward if you survive a long time as the king. If you get knocked off, that’s it, your progress there is reset. You keep the cash you earned, but it doesn’t feel meaningful right now. I’d probably suggest making it round-based and show a leaderboard at the end, or have a list of the top players in the server on a leaderboard with their highest time survived, in ranked order. That way, there’s more immediate reward instead of having to grind out over 1000 cash.
Your knockback % doesn’t decrease over time. I’d expect it to, or at least decrease when you get knocked to the bottom of the hill. It feels bad essentially ‘dying’ by being knocked all the way down at 100%+ and then still having such a high knockback modifier when you come back up. You have to die and come back in to actually have a chance. You can’t reset your character either, which makes it a bit more frustrating.
Also, as the king, you’re just going to get a higher and higher % and be knocked off pretty soon. I feel like the skill ceiling isn’t very high, so it feels like there’s only so much you can do, and you will get knocked off regardless, especially since the % only goes upwards.
The map isn’t very interesting. It’s very plain, and it’s the only map in the game. It serves its purpose, but it’s not specifically fun to play on the map. You could vary it by adding more obstacles or different levels, funnel people in through certain ways, add walls on the top to hide behind, that kind of thing.
Also, you can’t play alone. It’s fine if you’re willing to sponsor to keep enough people on so that’s not a problem, but if you plan on stopping ads + you don’t have even a small recurring player count, nobody will be able to play at all. Just keep that in mind if you stop ads.
Overall though, the money/shop issue is 100% the most important thing here. I like the game, and clearly so do other people! You’re getting good feedback and it has a good rating, it just doesn’t have enough content to keep people playing for long, and to keep them coming back, which is why your session length and retention are so low (particularly D7 in that image).
Well I’m not just spending money on sponsoring to spend money, I’ve literally been iterating on the game and basically seeing what shit sticks to the wall, I’m improving the game as much as I can and that stats have improved since the last time I did sponsors so i’m obviously making my way there, but yeah I’ll keep in mind some of the things you talked about
Gonna add more powers for the king soon, and if everyone has an ability it takes away from the game’s nature which is the king of the hill which should be the one with the powers, not just everybody willy nilly having power doesnt make much sense, and I dont agree that the kings percentage should go down because they have the moves/abilities to balance that
I’m saying the percentage should go down EVENTUALLY. Right now, it doesn’t go down at all - maybe that’s fine for the king balancing, but it should at least go down for other players at some point, maybe if they haven’t been attacked for a while. There’s no punishment for dying, really, if anything it’s beneficial because it resets your %. Unless you’re the king of course.
As for the powers, I don’t think it’d be crazy. The dash isn’t that strong, and it’s fun to use to avoid people punching you. Maybe just having a dash or sprint could make it a little more fun too - but regardless, the shop is the most important. Powers but cosmetics too! People love cosmetics.
Added King’s Time which is the total amount of time you have been king for and also Segways that into a global leaderboard that refreshes every 5 minutes, gonna start working on more king powers tomorrow
That’s great. Don’t forget cosmetics too. Consider that the majority of people (especially younger players) are probably not going to last long as the king, most of the time. Adding cosmetics like weapons would be appealling to them, because it’s something they can buy that they can always see, not just use when they’re the king.
I’m interested how these changes affect your stats, so if you see a noticeable increase, do you mind posting it? Or DMing if you like!
Gameplay is pretty good, although gets stale after a while. Game should be round-based where players get put on new maps after some time (you can put the previous round’s king already into the king area to preserve their streak).
Even if the king should be the only one with the abilities, it doesn’t hurt to add a way to block attacks and an extra ability for everyone. You can amplify the effect of the ability for the king, like making it 1.5x stronger or something.
Gonna add another king move called Mirror Shield very soon where it reflects punches back to the sender, also I’m gonna keep watching the stats and see if the global leaderboard effected them at all, and will probably make moves cost a bit less aswell but still feel like they have to play enough to feel earned when you do have enough to buy them
Mineaswell document my journey trying to grow this damn game
The updated stats for yesterday have come in, the sponsor ran out but I did see players joining throughout the day today which is good, gonna just keep working on some new moves for the king
I played the game twice. Once this morning, and once in the evening. Here my thoughts:
Gameplay: 5/10
The brief 5 minutes I got to play it with other players was pretty fun. The dash felt good to use, and the % meter like Smash Bros was a cool addition. But solo, the game is borderline unplayable; it’s boring without others, and you can’t even progress. Other than that, it’s just a King of the Hill game, which definitely isn’t a very popular genre right now. Also, there aren’t many skills, and the one skill for purchase is too expensive.
Aesthetics: 2/10
Map was uninteresting. The lobby and play area were all just parts with studs, nothing visually appealing.
Overall: 4/10
The map needs more visual appeal, and there’s just not enough to do right now. This is reflected in your playtime and retention stats, as players are just getting bored, then leaving, never to return.
Had to postpone the shield like a few days cause, 1 when i started something wasn’t going exactly as planned and i just took the day off, and 2 once I did get back into the groove of coding it, had some issues to fix with it and still one more bug I gotta fix aswell
Gameplay Changes
I made the punching have a bit of a higher cooldown so you’re not just throwing haymakers left and right, i’m hoping this will allow for a bit more “skill based” gameplay
I made it so you can’t hit ragdolled players, I think this one is really big because when you’re on the ground and just getting punched constantly its super frustrating hopefully this and the increased punch cooldown will work in tandem to make the game feel more satisfying
Did a price floor for the moves so they’re gonna be a bit cheaper then before
Map Addition
So I was thinking to myself how I could make the hill a bit more interesting., and thats when I got the idea too make like tunnels under, the hill, and then have a bounce pad at the bottom which would takes players all the way onto the top, I feel like this will not only make the king stay a bit more alert but will add another playstyle
Ignore the low session time metric though, I havent been sponsoring since I think the 11th so yeah, the players that did join werent staying for long cause there was literally no one else to play with
Updated stats, started sponsoring yesterday afternoon so I’ll get the complete results probably sometime tomorrow afternoon
From what I’ve seen the players are enjoying the new map addition and are stay longer, also seeing alot of players coming back which is very nice too see aswell
One thing I’ve noticed is that since the sponsors have ended up having alot more people on the game without sponsoring which is very nice too see, I’m also working on another king move which is Invisibility and the player will be able to go invisible for a period of time, and I’m going to make it so you have to join the group to be able use it, so hopefully can simultaneously increase my group members and players will also have a new king move too use
Finished the invisibility king move and basically it allows you to go full invisible for about 10 seconds and then you reappear, if you get hit or step of the hill you appear as well
