Is it possible to add a different gradient not to PrefixText, but to *Text* itself?

The point is that we can add UIGradient to the PrefixText (or as many call it “tag”) of a message, but I couldn’t find any information about adding it directly to the Text.

:index_pointing_up: As you can see, I had no problems adding a gradient to the tag.

I assume that to gradiently color the Text along with its tag, I just need to include the Text content in the tag content, BUT what if I, for example, want a different gradient specifically for the Text? Is that possible?

it should be, since it’s just Text with enabled richtext

however problem is to correct it with Richtext’s features and other problems (such as if it is correct place otherwise it will have it’s place close to prefixtext)

otherwise it will be ended up like this

<font transparency='1.0' family='rbxasset://fonts/families/BuilderSans.json' weight='Medium' size='18'><stroke transparency='1.0'><font color="#e8bac8">whateverusername:</font></stroke></font> (your richtext mistake here with text)

I didn’t quite understand the gist of your text.

I’d like to clarify that in this context, that we’re discussing the influence of UIGradient on the content of a message in player chat. Here’s an example of how I applied UIGradient (prepared inside my LocalScript) to PrefixText :

local TextS = game:GetService("TextChatService")
TextS.OnChatWindowAdded = function(msg:TextChatMessage)
	local source=msg.TextSource if not source then return end

	local prop = cwc:DeriveNewMessageProperties()
	prop.PrefixTextProperties = cwc:DeriveNewMessageProperties()
	local player = game.Players:GetPlayerByUserId(source.UserId)
	if player then
		--> getting player tag value
		if tag=="special" then
			prop.PrefixText = "Special "..plr.DisplayName..":"
			prop.Text=msg.Text

			local gr = script.RWGR:Clone()
			gr.Parent = prop.PrefixTextProperties
		end
	end
end

The thing is, I’d like to use UIGradient in favor of prop.Text as well, not just prop.PrefixText.
I just can’t figure out how exactly. :sleepy_face:

I didn’t undertsand it… sorry

You can’t. althought you can change only Text’s color in RichText and that’s it
