Is it allowed for me to make an ad service. People join my game, create an account, purchase an ad, and anyone that uses our module has someones ad in their game and they get payed robux for having ads in their game. Is this allowed?
What is “roux”?
And advertisements are allowed, games like this have already been published like group recruitment plaza.
No like they go into my game, and pay. Then they send me their advertisement. Then anyone that uses my script, it puts an ad in their own game of someone else group and they get roux for it.
I have questions about specifics.
- What is this
script
being sold as? Is it abundantly clear that it’s an advertisement injector? - How do you keep track of views to pay accordingly? Is HTTP requests being enabled a requirement?
- Who actually gets paid? The person who bought the advertisement, or the person showing these advertisements in their game?
- What are these
accounts
? Is this a completely external website and you’re just using a Roblox game for payments? Are you following GDPR/CCPA with this? - How are these advertisements shown to players? Is it a pop-up GUI? A Hint? An actual object in the game?
You don’t necessarily have to answer all of these, but some of these are more important than others. If you’re collecting data on players without notice/consent and without the ability to use GDPR/CCPA to delete this data, or if you’re misleading people into putting these advertisements into their game, you’ll have many issues ahead of you.
I think it works like this: You add the module to your game, which allows people to advertise their own game. You get Robux for having the module in your game. People can go to a main place to put out advertisements to other games.
I’m not sure if you are allowed to pay people to have the module, pretty sure that counts as a giveaway which for some reason is not allowed.
Thats exactly how it works, but I guess its not allowed then.
Do any of you remember Terabyte Services? It was an application center game for groups that needed a application center. It was pretty popular until Roblox changed something and it couldn’t work anymore. They had a game called “Terabyte Ads” where you could upload a decal to the game and pay some robux for x hours or days, which could be put in other people’s application centers. That was allowed, and wasn’t taken down, so I’m guessing yours won’t either.
Once the ad was seen by like 1k people you got some robux, which was pretty sweet too, but I’m not sure if that’s allowed.
I’ve never heard of it, then again I haven’t been a very active player for several years now. I honestly wouldn’t really think of something like that being successful. I would expect you to have a pretty bad funding issue if you’re paying people out without metrics, and having a third-party service complicates things.
I think the key issue is the user experience. If your advertisements are annoying, or don’t properly fit on smaller screens (mobile), you’ll likely not have game developers put it in their game. The revenue gained from this would absolutely be nil compared to potential loss of revenue from players leaving due to annoying advertisements. Just think of how many use an ad-blocker in their browser.
You would also have trouble finding people that would put their advertisements up in this since you would have very few games that show these at the start, if any. I think if you built an existing platform of tools that become used across many games, maybe you could try something like this. For an example of what something like that may be, that would probably be something like HD Admin.
I wish you the best of luck OP, and even more luck than that on successfully marketing this.
